So, if I already have an Ozzie Plan is there any point in me trying to attend this? I mean, who doesn't like $1 hot dogs?

Why do they not offer something like this for existing season ticket holders looking to upgrade before they offer season tickets to the general public?

On a related note I just checked the Sox website and pulled up some decent seats for season tickets, sections 116/148/149 came up. Last year only really bad lower level and so-so upper deck tickets were available at this time.

That's because renewals weren't as high as usual and while they say you will lose your seat location, they sort of save it for you because they know there is a lot less of a chance you will return with locations not as nice.

The relocation process is something that does need a makeover though. Seniority should be the #1 factor, and unfortunately it is not.

So, the outing is being held in the Parking Lot? It says to enter through the United Scout Seat entrance at Gate 3. Also, the reason I wanna go up to this is because a bar by my house wants to get a bus to a random Saturday game. Like against the Royals no big name team so to have an oppurtunity to get a lower level party group or patio party group on the CHEAP.:gulp:

"appearance by a former White Sox player"

This is the most interesting part to me. It's probably going to be somebody from before 2000, but when I read this I had a vision of Jose Valentin.

Too bad you can't see the home clubhouse, but I'll stop by for a $1 hot dog and the chance to see the visitors clubhouse and dugout. I've never seen the field with snow on it....well hopefully it's gone by next Sunday.

I already have my location, but I might go for the dollar dogs and to watch the Hawks game on the big screen (I assume it'll be on anyway).

Hmm, I definitely think I am going to go do this. I have been toying around with the idea of the 13-game "Ozzie" package. Plus, the tour sounds pretty neat.

The home side is really the same but vertical and not horizontal. The chairs outside the lockers are really nice though. LARGE black leather seats that have the Sox logo on it. they have the team photos from past years. Other than that its the same as visiting side.

Any idea if there's an obligation to buy a package if you go? Can't really spring for season tickets right now, but I'd love to take the kids to this...

I can see it now. On the way out you see Kenny at the door pointing a gun at you and Jerry holding open a pillowcase telling everyone to hand over the money.

I was thinking the same thing. We can't afford to spring for tix now...but would love to take my kids. I'm just worried the hubby will talk me into buying some kind of package.

Looks like I'm going to this for the hell of it. I have a friend who's going to be at UIC the night before and will need a ride home anyway, so we are going to meet there. I've never driven to the park myself, either, and I figure that a Sunday afternoon on a non-day game is the best way to do that. Looking forward to hot dogs and just seeing the park again.

So we're not given free reign of the park? Can I just walk around the seating sections, take pictures by the blue seats or anything?

You enter at the scout lounge area at gate 3. Sox staff will be there, and you can go to the cheap eats or the visitors clubhouse/dugout. To get to the seating area/concourse you'll need to have interest in tickets, and you'll be escorted by a sox employee. Just say you want to see a location...I'm sure they won't say no if you ask to take some pics or visit the blue seats.

Well, I went here with my dad today (and my Cub fan mom, who needed to go to a wake afterward on 26th) from about 1 until it ended at 3. First thing we did was go say hi to Minnie: (DISCLAIMER: I am in bad need of a haircut and I don't usually resemble Tim Lincecum in terms of hairstyle. Also, my usual hat of choice [since this past summer] is a '59 replica, but because of the rain I went with my old crappy brown one that is at least a decade old. Shame, because I think Minnie would've appreciated the old cap.)

Got him to sign a picture of himself in my copy of Don Zminda's Go-Go to Glory. He saw pictures of Frank Lane and Paul Richards on the next page and told some stories. Pretty cool to meet a legend.

After visiting the visitors' clubhouse and enjoying some dollar dogs, Dad and I started flirting with the idea of getting a split season ticket plan, and on the way out to the seats I gleefully happened upon the WS and AL pennant trophies:

http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/1389/soxselectaseat3710010.th.jpg (http://img697.imageshack.us/i/soxselectaseat3710010.jpg/)

Somehow I forgot to take a pic of the snow-covered field, but it was pretty surreal.

Also got me sitting in a row of Old Comiskey seats (why is the big picture above from the new park? I know it was the WS, but still...):

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/8855/soxselectaseat3710011.th.jpg (http://img96.imageshack.us/i/soxselectaseat3710011.jpg/)

Doesn't look like we'll be getting a plan this season, but maybe someday we will. Watched the end of the Hawks game and was disappointed that the ST game was rained out.

Right before we left we snapped this photo of me:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6447/soxselectaseat3710012.th.jpg (http://img291.imageshack.us/i/soxselectaseat3710012.jpg/)

All in all, a fun event, but it was somewhat dampened by the weather. I'd go again in the future, as once we got there the dugout was closed.

Hey, I definitely saw you there today. I was wearing my U of Illinois jacket.

Anyway, my buddy talked my into buying the DoublePlay weekend package plus opening day. We got sec. 533 row 4. It was WAY more than I wanted to spend, but hey...you are only young once!

Can't say I remember seeing you there, but...U of I? Whyyy?

And yeah, my dad and I were definitely flirting with the Double Play plan. We even got section 520 row 2 set aside for us for the next 48 hours or something. We probably would've been more serious about it if I didn't already have tickets for seven games this season. Definitely looks to be something we'll do a few times in the future.

Yeah, my buddy had already bought two games worth of tickets, but we know enough people that we won't get stuck with games that we can't go to. I won't be able to go to all 25 games, but I will go to as many as I can!

As for the U of I thing, my dad brought me up and Illini fan...but, he also brought me up as a White Sox fan, so I'm not gonna complain. :D:

But that was tempting. Someday.

Yeah, we thought so, too. Our new rep took us up there and we stood there for a second, and I looked out towards center field, and thought to myself...this is gonna be a blast! I've never been to more than 2 (3 tops) games in a season before. I can't wait until opening day.

I was looking at the Double Play or Hit and Run packages ---
There are some surprising good seats available !!

I am so scared to purchase though ... in the back of my mind I am thinking save save save because who knows what the future holds for me in the realm of teaching w budget cuts and such !!!!

ahhhh a gal can dream though .... or win the lottery ... or a big poker tournament and then the seats will be mine...

ahhhh a gal can dream though .... or win the lottery ... or a big poker tournament and then the seats will be mine...an upper deck package will cost you around $500 per seat if you get a partial plan. that's not bad. and if you sell the cubs game as well as the yankee and red sox games, you should be able to lower your cost commitment even further.

i have a weekend plan in the outfield. we sell the cubs game, as well as yankees/red sox every year. i let thier bonheaded fans subsidize my package.
