In the midst of all these threads speculating on possible off season moves, I wanted to throw out a trivia question. Can you name someone who played, coached and managed in the World Series?

I can think of three: Ozzie Guillen, Yogi Berra and Billy Martin. Can anyone think of others?

If Lou Pinella coached in the WS, then he would also be on this list.

Trying to figure out guys who coached from the old days can be tough. Tris Speaker and Bucky Harris won the World Series as player managers. They both coached later in their careers, but I don't know if was for World Championship teams. Red Schoendienst won as a player, manager and coached with the Cards. I don't know if he coached on the 1982 team.

There's a list of bench coaches on Wikipedia.
Add Yogi Berra
Mike Scioscia

Wow... I didn't know/remember that Ozzie was on that team in 1999. I love useless trivia like this. Thanks for the info.

Whom did he coach for in the World Series?

No one. He was a coach for just a year with NYY, I believe.

He did.

Red Schoendienst did play, coach and manage in different World Series. What's more, he played for the Milwaukee Brave team that led the 1958 World Series 3-1 and lost, managed the St. Louis Cardinal team that led the 1968 World Series 3-1 and lost and coached on the Cardinal team that led the 1985 World Series 3-1 and lost!

Right, bench coach, not in the WS.
After doing a search on wikipedia, I didn't know he grew up in Peoria, IL.
