This thread just seems to bleed of irony.

Perhaps to some *cough* WSI FOJH FOCC *cough*...*cough* folks here who have an obsession about "Cubsession" *cough* ... and if so maybe Alanis Morissette can add a verse about it.

But the real irony to me is when fans who regularly shout about Sox fans concerns about the Cubbies have a bit of their "Sox-obsession" slip out.

Craw and Soltrain: ease up.

The real tool in the story appears to be Wally Hayward. And, although he rhetorically claims to not know who the Sox are, the real irony is...I have no idea who the hell he is.

I was a undercover White Sox fan at the Cubs Convention this weekend.
While I was waiting in line to get in I was listening to a couple of Cub fans talking about the White Sox and they couldn't stop talking about how good of a job Kenny Williams has done.

I honestly think Cub fans do like what the Sox have done but cant say it with out getting bashed about it.

Despite what a lot of people here think, there are smart Cubs fans out there. Unfortunately, they are being drowned out by the idiots. The same could be said about Sox fans as well. My co-worker is a Cubs fan, but he never bashes the Sox to me, and even commented he liked the job KW has done during his tenure. His brother-in-laws, however, are very obnoxious Sox fans who can't help but bash the Cubs whenever he's in their presence.

I would never ever attend a scrubs convention no matter what because I just can not stand scrubs fans for the most part. I have said it over and over to my friends, if there was the hottest girl ever and we had everything in common and she was good for me and then I found out she was a scrubs fan, I'd have to bail on her. No joke. That may sound a bit drastic but I just couldn't do it.

That being said, I remember I was at the Bears playoff game against Carolina in 2005-2006 and I was wearing my Ozzie Guillen jersey with the World Series patch on it and some guy was like, "hey, this ain't the ghetto, take that Sox **** off". And I just laughed, pointed to my ring finger and told him that I was just trying to inspire the Bears to win a championship by showing them what champions wear. He shut up. :D:

Why should he answer any questions about the White Sox? Do the White Sox play in the Cubs division? Or league even? They're a team they see 6 games a year out of 162. That's all.

and honestly, I think the Sox fans bashing the Cubs is WAY worse. They bash the Cubs more than they talk about their own team which is actually quite sad. Just the fact this subforum exists is proof.

Well said.

One of my best friends is a Cub fan and we never bash each other. I usually go to Wrigley with him about 6 times a year, and he comes to the Cell with me about the same. You know why? Because we both love baseball. I like getting to go see N.L. teams that I don't get to see play as much, and my friend enjoys the same experience when he comes to the Cell. He's very complimentary of our ballpark and how nice it's become, and I'll admit that the dump on the northside is kicking our ass in the hot dog department. (They have the common courtesy to steam the buns!)

What we agree on most - that there's nothing worse than "fans" who know absolutely nothing about anything outside of the team they root for. And both sides of town have lots of 'em.

To be honest, anybody who loves either the White Sox or Cubs more than they love the game itself is somebody who's fandom is probably a result of a "being part of a group" mentality.

Maybe I'm just that naive, but do posters here who get banned go running to other websites to boast? I saw that with two other posters a year ago having to do with a thread Michelle started about a neighborhood issue. Reading voodoo's post gave me a flashback to that.

I believe that Michelle's help was the final straw for some of them. I seem to recall people asking in Shock if she had indeed been made an admin. Of course it was her work that got the place back up and running after the vandals did their damage.

At least Soxtalk grew up into a decent Sox message board. I don't see the current group ever managing to make that happen. It will always remain a WSI hater site for a group of close Internet friends who happen to watch and root for the Sox...

Henry had the gall to discipline one of the the children, which prompted the head child to organize ther exit.

thier site is simply a place for them to bash each other, myself, henry, and you guys. and discuss thier next laughabout.

funny thing about the children. they speak at great length about how wsi(and later henry) violated thier "freedom of expression", but they keep half thier site away from visitors. they have a private playground where newcomers are treated like trash, and while someof thier members went al lout to attack me, henry, and others on henry's site, those same members are ridiculed WORSE than henry or my fellow mods at henry's site.

Root for the Sox? They buy game tickets, pay to park in Lot B and then sit in the parking lot all game long drinking beer playing Cornhole (they're in good with the personnel, so they don't get kicked out when the game starts). They don't do Cub games because there's no tailgating there.

That's not a woman. Hence the reference to a flubbie fan cross dressing as a Sox fan.
WAIT! WAIT! WAIT! Are you telling me thats not a girl.

I believe that Michelle's help was the final straw for some of them. I seem to recall people asking in Shock if she had indeed been made an admin. Of course it was her work that got the place back up and running after the vandals did their damage.

voodoo - are we talking literal damage or just garbage in the form of their posts?

I don't remember "damage" but the one thing that sticks out was one telling the Mods she appreciated their view from the ivory tower - less than 12 hours after her significant other got the boot.

EDIT - I owe an apology for the major thread hijack. I just didn't know this stuff was more than just surface level BS.

Yeah, they tried to steal the database of posts and take down the home page because one of them had designed it and they weren't going to leave it. That's as I recall. I am sure Ewok or Hangar can be more descriptive if they choose.

Everyone is better off now, but I always do hope I run into a specific few of them in a dark alley whenever I come back to Chicago.....

but they never seem to want to meet me. Go figure.do you spot ricardo at the bear bar in LA anymore?

All of this sounds pretty scary and interesting. How come I'm never in the know about anything? I swear, I never find out about things until they are way past history. I don't mean just here, I also mean at work, family etc. Nobody tells me any damn thing.

By the way, is it true that the White Sox traded Aaron Rowand for Jim Thome? I keep hearing that.

Hell no. You think he would willingly go to a place where he knew I'd be?

They damaged links, changed passwords, screwed with layout - real nasty stuff.

The whole thing was so juvenile - esp since we tried to split amiably. In the end, they were so invested in d-bag groupthink that no one could talk rationally to them. Oh well, it's over now.

You couldn't pay me to watch the Bears this year.

Anyway, I'll be at the Egyptian Theater this weekend. Hope to see you there.

LOL - Oh Rick, you're such a cliche. You've known where I've been on Sundays the past two years - why haven't you stopped by and said hi at least once?

Oh and tell me, how did the legal recourse for the magazine subscriptions go? ;)

Their are Sox threads every other thread in Cubs forums. They are obsessed with the Sox so much they know of any time we mention the Cubs. The whole deal with people saying that Sox fans are obsessed with the Cubs needs to stop... Especially by "crditable" reporters on Comcast sportsnet. (mainly that tribune show)

If the Cubs won the World Series, I would never tell a Cubs fan that it was a bad season, or it was tainted, or "stop thinking about the past".... but that's all I get when I mention that the Sox have won a World Series recently. (in defense of course)

All I know is that if their weren't any Cubs fans on this earth, I wouldn't dislike the Cubs. (at least the typical Cubs fan)

The only people in the know were those that were involved, and we are not going to make any announcements about people attempting to steal things they did not own, especially since it did not involve this site directly. We tried to help, and then Michelle stepped in and rebuilt their database because the thieves basically destroyed it trying to move it.
