Interesting that we signed Daniel Cabrera.

Daniel Cabrera, eh? Is that the same head case who's been mentioned here before. I didn't realize we'd signed him to a minor league contract. I'm intrigued.

Kenny has wanted Cabrera for a long time. Maybe they can straighten out his control problems. Unlikely, but worth a shot.

Cabrera has had arm problems in recent years. His strikeout rate is way down. Its worth an invite, but chances are he plays in Charlotte or not at all in the White Sox organization.

I'm really interested in seeing Jordan play (or hearing him play, I guess ).

I'm not all that excited about Cabrera. Particularly since his once impressive fastball was down to around 90 MPH last year.

Here is the list of non roster invitees:

I'm excited to get a look at Miguel Gonzalez. It's rather odd to have depth at catcher in the minors. Flowers (obviously), Gonzalez, and Phegley are the three worth paying attention to.

That list contains 12 of the reported 15. Retherford, and two mystery invitees, are not included.

IIRC last year there was a long thread bashing KW for not jumping on Daniel Cabrera. Maybe this guy Peavy will make up for it.

Minor League Deal, Invite to Spring Training

I like that signing a lot, some more insurance on a Freddy fall out.

I honestly think Cabrera's best days are behind him, but stranger things have happened. We'll see what he does in ST.

Yeah low risk, possibly high reward guy(doubt it though). His role will probably depend on how we use Hudson. If Hudson is used in the pen then we may actually see Cabrera, but if Hudson is kept as a starter in AAA then we will most likely never see him. The Knights always need pitchers though.

Classic Kenny move. High potential, never lived up to it. Broken or unwanted by everyone else. No risk at all.

Unless you have him throwing to our own hitters, then there's a major risk involved.
