For 30 million. Quite interesting as the most serious suitors were AL teams. Maybe the Marlins didn't pull out of the bidding? Stay tuned.

If he was leaving from Ft. Lauderdale, I'm guessing it's not the Marlins...

Yep.

Didn't read the tweet until just now.

Says it's an NL Central team. Likely the Reds.

Wow, Strasburg and Chapman would (potentially) give Washington a suddenly formidable 1-2 punch.

That said, I'm sure they'll both flame out.

It isn't the Nats.

Definitely not the Marlins (which most people have figured out.)

Could be the Cubs considering they need another starter and/or bullpen help. Though, I do not see where they got this kind of money. They didn't get that much back for Bradley did they?

Olney just shot down Braves, Padres, Rockies, and Dodgers. Becoming more and more likely that it's the Reds.

I don't think the Cubs have been seriously linked to Chapman, at least not recently. Either way, he isn't MLB ready. He is going to be spending this year in the minors for sure. Most people are saying AA.

If it is indeed the Reds who signed him, Cinci could have a formidable rotation in 2011+ with a little luck.

Volquez
Cueto
Chapman
Leake
Bailey

That of course banks on Volquez returning to form after Tommy John, Bailey continuing to figure things out with the development of his splitter, Chapman developing secondary pitches, and Leake panning out. Plenty of ifs.

I'm a closet Reds fan. I admit it.

It could be the Cubs.
They would be the most likely to over pay someone.

Could be a 10 year deal says John Fay.

Kinda cool how it wasn't for some huge market team, still I was rooting for the Marlins to pick him up. Now let's see how fast Dusty Baker blows his arm out.

Still waiting on alot of specifics like that. Don't think it's official yet.

They better not let Dusty get his hands on him. He'll be having TJ surgery in the next two years.

Very odd allocation of funds for the Reds.

Oh man, did his agent realize the Grim Reaper of pitchers manages this team right now?

This should be interesting. Now the Reds have to build the rest of a team around this guy.

Five years, $25MM with a player option for a sixth year. The payment will be spread out over 10 years. He will make 1 million this year.

Better CIN getting him rather than the usual East and West coast vultures.

That being said, he could also turn out to be a total flop or a very expensive LH reliever.

When you're not a big market team, you have to take risks on guys like this sometimes.

Or you could take your yearly top 10 pick and actually pick and pay someone worthy...

Sure, if you're content to be the Rays for those ten years and happen to be lucky enough to have most of those picks pan out.

Hopefully this saves the Reds. They had a first ballot HOF on their roster and couldn't get out of the basement.

Oh wait, his arm will be broken soon enough anyway
