Bay's contract demands were too rich for the Boston Red Sox a.k.a. "Evil Empire Jr." This is all you need to know about our chances to land Bay.

This thread has to be a joke to see how many replies bashing the original post the OP can get.

Is Jason Bay even that good? I hear his name all the time like he is Alex Rodriguez or Albert Pujols.

Now that the BoSox signed Cameron, what are Bay's options? How many teams are left that would sign him to huge money?

Disclaimer: I don't mean that the Sox have a shot... I'm just wondering

He's a 30HR 100RBI middle of the order guy. If he was lefty he would be ideal, but for what he is asking for and has been turned down by Boston, the chances of him signing with the Sox are ZERO!

I believe the Mets said they were interested. He'll probably sign there.

Mets have offered 5yr/$75M. Bay is saying he's looking for a sixth year. He should take what the Mets offered and run.

Besides the money, where's the space for him to play?

Everyday DH and could play outfield to give an OF some rest.

The guy was bad enough in left field...

I mean, who else are the Mets even competing with? If STL signs Holliday, there's absolutely no more demand, right?

The Giants could use him but they won't pay that kind of money.

In 2009-2010:

Until three or four years from now when KW gets him for two prospects and $6-7 million a year included for each remaining year of his contract.

There is always the moronic Peter Angelos and The Orioles. They seem to have found their niche as being the team that over-bids for a free agent thus driving up the price of the player.

My guess is that they'll be used as a wedge here by Bay's agent to get more money out of The Mets.

And people complain about our outfield defense as is. Bay is probably worse than Quentin in the field.

Yeah, but then again you would ensure that everyday you have a Bay-Quentin-Konerko middle of the order. We all know how TCQ gets banged up, so putting him at DH would be the best solution to putting a winning product on the field. Quentin could probably play 155+ games as a DH.

I'm not against it, I know it won't happen, but it wouldn't be a bad thing. I think Bay is going to get vastly overpaid though.

And, I agree, CQ is best off at DH until he proves he can stay healthy for a full season. Hopefully KW agrees.

That's equivalent to 0%.

Now

0.00000000000000000000000001% would have been a better punch-line to your joke there.
