Awesome, good ballplayer but happy to see him gone from the AL. He always seemed to kill us in big situations.

Jesus, the Phillies are going to be an N.L powerhouse for a long time.

Nobody else seemed interested in the job.

Well, the Mets looked to be the next big thing. and did the same thing the Yankees did in buying people to win. Unfortunately, their return has not been as great. Don't even know who to fault in that organization, they have been getting shafted with a bunch of issues for the last 3 or so years.

Looks like a lot of players are trying to prove their flexibility to play other positions this offseason, interesting.

That guy killed us with clutch hits, often line drives down the right field line. Glad he's back in the NL.

Polanco was definitely a Sox Killer. He was also a really tough out. The guy would foul off a ton of pitches and was always one of the toughest guys in the league to strike out. Glad he is gone from our division and league. Who are the Tigers going to replace him with at 2B next year?

Jesus, the Phillies are going to be an N.L powerhouse for a long time. This is a horrible contract. Adrian Beltre had to have been asking for something like 4/$40mil for this to be reasonable. Polanco is 34, coming off a down year, and being moved to a position he hasn't played in five years, not to mention that they are putting a guy who hits 10 homers a year in as the everyday third baseman. I know the Phils have offense coming from pretty much everywhere else, but geez. I am not sure I would have even signed him for one year at $6mil to be a 3B.

The Phillies will be good, but it will be in spite of this contract. They will be looking for another 3B by the 2011 trade deadline at the latest.

I coveted him as a FA back when the Tigers signed him. Who did we play at 2B instead? Willie Harris?

He was signed as a free agent by the Phillies after 2004 and the Tigers traded for him midseason in 2005. Tad Iguchi was our second baseman.

'm sure Peavy is glad he's gone too...If I remember when he pitched against the Tigers late in the year Polanco was something like 10-14 off Peavy. But he's the only one who was hitting him :bandance:.

They better get more starting pitching depth and a bullpen first.
