One would imagine he finally gets moved after the blundering trade talks of the past mid-season.

Both the Dodgers (http://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo/statuses/5907900574) and Cubs (http://hotstove.mlblogs.com/archives/2009/11/1120_cubs_blue_jays_talk_re_ha.html) have been contacted by Anthopoulos so far. I'm guessing that the teams he would waive his no trade clause to are being let known.

Cue the firestorm of Cub fans engineering Milton Bradley+prospects for Halladay deals in their blue-tinted ivy-covered imaginations. This thread will probably end up in What's the Score...

I don't really have an opinion on the subject, but awesome thread title, dude.

I had figured the same thing, but the topic has been here for a few days without much activity. Haven't even really seen much mention elsewhere either. It's entirely likely that it's just a garbage rumor. Either way, I expect the flurry of Doc trade rumors to occur once the Winter Meetings start.

I'm quite clever aren't I?

Rosenthal reports that the Cubs would be interested in pulling off a Halladay deal, but they don't have the payroll space currently.

I assume that eventually this thread will find its way to WTS.

From what I've read and heard, it sounds like the Jays want Starlin Castro (makes sense since they supposedly were looking for a SS in return which is why we heard Beckham's name a lot last year) and possibly Vitters as well. The Cub fan friends that I've talked to are hesitant to give up Castro especially if it's only going to be 1 season of Halladay.

I just saw, in an online msg board, someone post that Halladay signed with the Braves. Is there any truth to this or is this guy just full of it?

EDIT: Nevermind, I think this dope is just that. Sorry abt. the post and/or false alarm.

No. And he isn't a free agent. The only signing he would doing in any case would be a contract extension with whatever team he is traded to.

Halladay's preferred destinations are Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, or Phillies according to this Insider (http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=4695224&name=olney_buster&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fesp n%2fblog%2findex%3fentryID%3d4695224%26name%3dolne y_buster) article.

That's what happens when you overpay for two corner outfielders (Soriano and Bradley). :D:

Apparently the Red Sox are really pushing for him: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2009/11/25/halladay_is_being_targeted_by_the_red_sox/

Fenway, how high is Casey Kelly rated? Is he as highly coveted of a prospect for the Red Sox organization as Bacon was here before he made it to the bigs? If not, then that might be a total steal for the Red Sox.

Kelly is very highly rated. Baseball Prospectus has him as a 5 star prospect and 2nd overall in their entire system. He is seen as a potential ace in the future. This is if he stays at pitcher one would assume. I would imagine the shortstop experiment ends sometime in 2010 despite his wishes.

Halladay has set his own trade deadline. He will not approve any trades after reporting to spring training.
