According to www.mlbtraderumors.com (http://www.mlbtraderumors.com)

The Hawkaroo is sad.

Looks like a case of buying low for both sides. Twins needed a SS and there's really no room for Gomez anymore.

I think this trade does more to help the White Sox than the Mark Teahen deal.

My guess is that The Brewers wouldn't bite on Delmon Young, whom it seems like the twinkies have been trying to ditch for a year or so.

I am glad to see this hot dog out of our division. His body mannerisms annoyed me to no end.

Also from the no-brainer category: Phils exercise 9 mil option on Cliff Lee.

I am soo happy about this trade for a selfish reason. I have in my dynasty league and he was a drop candidate with the situation he was in. Now in Milwaukee he might get regular playing time and give my dynasty team an extra 20-30 steals per year! :bandance:

Dare I say the Twins just got more likeable.. nah, forget about it.

See ya later Hot Dog.

He can do double-duty during the sausage races. Glad to see him out of the league.

I wonder if he'll continue to be a perpetual loser?

Well we did just drop 10-15 steals off the roster by swapping Getz for Teahen. Plus, as it looks now we probably not resigning Pods, so...

I guess this means that the Twinkies aren't bringing back O. Cabrera. Good for us -- Cabrera played great for them.

No we can just listen to Cubs fans bitch about Gomez sliding head first into home for no reason, and his annoying mannerisms.

He also likes to slide into first and dive for easily catch-able balls in the outfield.

Gomez isn't great but the Brewers are about to save $14 mil off their payroll by not resigning Mike Cameron and clearing the $4 mil that Hardy would make. Plus with Escobar ready to take over the SS job full-time this actually was a great move for the brewers......

Love the post, munch. In all seriousness, this move could really help the Twins. They needed some more pop in their lineup moving into an outdoor stadium and Hardy could definitely provide it. He had a down year in 2009 but in 2007 and 2008 Hardy was a 20HR/75RBI type hitter.

I'm surprised the Twins are giving up so soon on what was essentially the centerpiece of the Johan Santana trade. Tough for Twins fans who saw them trade the best pitcher in baseball for a prospect they had to dump to the Brewers for a power hitting shortstop coming off of a down year. I feel so bad for them.

I'm surprised the Brewers didn't trade Hardy for pitching. They are in dire need of some reliable arms.

Lets just hope Hardy plays like 2009 and not 2007 or 2008... :(:

Of course, another way to look at it is that Gomez is gone and he hit over .300 against the Sox in his career for some unknown reason. This is one less Sox killer in their lineup.

I don't think you're going to get much pitching for JJ Hardy. I would think they are better off saving the money and using it to try and buy a starter who could help at the top of the rotation something they would never get for Hardy.

Hardy is hitless against us in 11 AB's. Let's hope he stays that way against us.

I actually like this trade for MIN better than the one we made for Teahan.

At least Hardy has a recent history of being productive. The only thing Teahan has done in line with him is strike out.

Harrelson will need to find another mediocre player to develop a man-crush on.

It'll probably be another Twin.

This is good in that we won't have to see Gomez dive unecessarily for balls in CF and have his necklace dangle half way down his chest. He can take his .229 average and suck for the Brewers.

Of course. He's got a secret crush on about 16 or 17 Twins players and/or personnel starting with Ron Gardenhose.

When I first saw this trade, I was estatic because I cannot stand Gomez. And, now we go from seeing him 19 times a year 0 times a year. Thank you Terry Ryan!

Good riddance. Great hitter against us. Horrible hitter against everyone else. And we won't have to see him jump around like a goof anymore. Great trade!

A "good" player in what sense? He's a career .246 in 1017 ABs. His OBP (.292!) is putrid for someone whose offensive game relies solely on his speed. Yeah, he's only 23, but he seems to be regressing as a hitter.

I don't think he's a complete bust yet, but it's hard to say that he's a good player at this stage of his career. He plays a good centerfield, but he's a black hole at the plate. Except when he played us.

You got it Pale Hoser.....they missed out on a great deal to get Punto......I'd love to see him leave the Central! What a nuisance.

On a serious note, I think they are really gambling on Hardy...looks like he's on a downhill roll...

For as big of a hot dog as he is, you'd think he'd be at least... Average.

The hate stems from a bad player acting like he's very good when in fact, he's very bad. He's fast, he plays good defense, and that's about where it ends. He strikes out at an extremely high rate, he doesn't walk, when he does make contact it's usually on some type of bunt/infield single. For as fast as he is, he's a terrible base stealer. Yeah, he's still young, but you would think he would have shown an improvement off his rookie year, instead he regressed in just about every facet.

The Brewers got hosed.

This trade will really hurt the twins mediocre pitching staff. now they can't play their corner of's on the line taking doubles away while Gomez covers both gaps. Playing outside in good lighting where hitters can see spin on the ball will also hurt the twinks.

Hardy was terrible last year. The Brewers were just trying to get rid of his contract. They have no where for him to play with Escobar being up with the Brew Crew now.

I'm not quite sure they got hosed. They basically got the defensive version of Mike Cameron without his offensive boost. I don't see them competing anytime soon, so they can afford to start Gomez 150+ games in CF.
