The Sox will face the AAA Charlotte Knights April 1 in one of the final Spring Training game before traveling to Chi for the season opener with Clev. First Sox game in Charlotte since 2001 game there with Expos, and first meeting with the Knights there since 1999. Tickets are pretty cheap as well.

If I remember correctly, didn't the Sox lose to the Knights in that 1999 game?

April 1 is a Thursday. They'll probably be playing somewhere on Friday and Saturday too. Opening Day is Monday, April 5th.

Yeah, this thread title needs to be changed. The Sox travel to Atlanta for a quick set before opening the regular season.

Again? Hmm, if it's a weekend that'd be a good win to see friends in Atlanta.

I wish MLB would one day go the way of having each one of the 30 teams scheduled a pair of exhibition games in their own parks versus their own top 20 farmhands prior to the season kicking off. This way you promote the minor league systems and give the fans a taste of the future.

I would much rather attend a game like that than watching the Sox play the Braves in Atl.

not a bad idea.

i also wouldnt mind a cubs/sox home/home series before the season started. i doubt it would hurt the gate for the june interleague games.

I sent an email to by buddy in Charlotte who grew up with us on the South Side. He's a big Sox fan and is very happy for the chance to finally see his team.

I went to the game in Oklahoma City towards the end of '08 Spring Training. Was cool seeing the team here at Bricktown Ballpark, especially seeing Paulie launch one out of there!
