Kenji Johjima is opting out of the final two years of his contract to go back to Japan and finish his career there.

This is a win-win situation. Kenji gets to be a hero for coming back and playing in Japan, and the M's get out of the ridiculous contract that was signed.

There is a little more insight into the decision here. (http://www.mynorthwest.com/?nid=374&sid=226762)

That contract was one of the worst in the MLB. Mariners are lucky here.

Trust, me M's fans are extremely well aware of this. It was a move made the the former GM who gave stupid contracts out way too often in the short time he was GM. Sadly, we still have Carlos Silva to deal with.

It's funny (not to M's fans I'm sure) but to me because when Silva was on the market everyone, and I mean everyone was saying that some team would make a huge mistake on him because the pitchers market was really weak. I never thought it would be to the tune of 4 years and 40 million.

The link to that second article is some of the worst published writing I have ever read.
