Found an interesting stat from the ALDS. The Twins hit .257, the Yankees .225 If the Yankees hit .225 against the Angels, it won't end well for them.

I have nothing against the players in any way. I wish A-Rod didn't do steroids, but I still look at him the same. Besides that, I don't dislike anyone on the team... they are good people for all I know.

I hate the organization though! I can't stand how they buy their way through everything. It doesn't give the same feel you know? The feel that everything fell into place for that one special season or few seasons... the Yanks just buy their moments, which makes the moments suck.

Know what? The old Yankees of the 20's and 30's were built the same way. The politics of MLB at the time funneled all the highly talented players into the Yankee's system. New York was too large of market to not have a solid winner.

Is this a record for errors in the postseason?

Interesting question. I couldn't find the answer, but I checked some postseason series with what I recall to be less than stellar fielding and saw this one has a way to go. To wit, in the '73 World Series, the A's and Mets combined for 19 errors. In the '86 ALCS, the Angels and Red Sox combined for 15 errors. I recall once reading (sorry, can't recall where) that, on average, there are about 11 errors in a World Series. I haven't looked at most errors for first two games in a postseason series.

So? Just because the system was screwed up in the 30s doesn't mean we have to like the fact that the Yankees are buying themselves a championship now.

http://www.getlisty.com/preview/2009-mlb-team-payrolls/

Their payroll is $50 million more than the team with the second highest payroll team. $80 million more that the 2nd highest payroll AL team (Red Sox). Ridiculous! That $80 million difference between the Yankees and the next highest spending team might be close to the White Sox entire payroll next year.

The surest way to bridge that fiscal gap is to redistribute the television revenue streams of them, Red Sox, and the Mets around the league. The late Wellington Mara did this for the NFL, and it eventually helped the game from a competitive and entertainment aspect. In the NFL, if you have good cap managers and draft properly, a franchise can be turned around regardless of location. Who ever thought they'd see the ARIZONA CARDINALS in the Super Bowl?

These three teams keep every single dime from their networks and it creates a bigger advantage than ever before. You still have to use the money properly, but they can cover up their mistakes a lot easier.

Example # 10,729 why I think it is inexcusable that some major league players cannot lay down a decent bunt. In that situation, bunt, bunt and you are celebrating a victory. Now, of course, they will probably have to burn through two more pitchers to get through the game.

Robertson got the first two guys out in the 11th, and they brought in another rookie righty to face Kendrick. He got a single and Mathis got the double to win it.

Girardi playing by the scouting reports, I guess. Seemed dumb at the time, and obviously his book didn't win him the game.

I realize A-Rod has been ridiculous, but when you're down 3-1 in a series and you're leading by 1 run with 2 outs, I don't see why you would bring the go ahead run to the plate.

In a bit late here, glad to see others couldn't believe the IBB either. You at least throw four bad balls and hope he gets himself out. Fuentes:48 saves on the season with his "stuff." Makes some of our bozos look good.

Admit it. So many bad calls lately we've come to expect them. Bad situation, esp. behind the plate.

Well Dale Scott is screwing Joe Saunders a bit. He struck out Cano on the 2-2 pitch but instead it was called a ball and leads to a lead off walk. Then, with the bases loaded, Saunders throws a curveball right over the heart of the plate which is called a ball and puts Damon in a hitters count to get a fastball to put the Yankees ahead.

I know we can't just blame the umps because Saunders put himself in the situation with suspect control, but still those calls piss me off.
