Game 1 starters: Brian Duensing (5-2, 3.64 ERA) vs. CC Sabathia (19-8, 3.37 ERA).

The Yankees have A.J. Burnett and Andy Pettitte lined up for Games 2 and 3 respectively.

The Yankees went 7-0 against the Twins this season, and the Twins haven't won a game in New York in two years. I'm calling a Yankee sweep. This won't even be close.

I hope that the Twinkies play the Yankees tough, drag it out to 5 games with a few extra inning contests to boot, before the Evil Empire's inevitable victory. But maybe the Twinkies can soften them up a bit for the winner of the Angels/Red Sox series to whip the **** out of them.

IMO the Twins easily take the hated edge because they are always in our asses. There is nothing to do about the Yankees, they are what they are. The Sox usually play the Yanks pretty hard but sadly that franchise is a giant but the Twins pfft. They are the devils.

Brian Duensing is a paper tiger. I hope he gets exposed at Yankee Stadium tomorrow night. That said, I haven't looked a CC's postseason stats, but I know they aren't stellar. Especially after giving up a slam to Victorino in the playoffs last year.

That being said, Go Yankees

If someone offered me 20-1 odds for like a $10 bet on the Twins I wouldnt take it. Buying 2 rocks of crack would be a better investment. Yankess will make them look like they're playing a high school team. I will be SHOCKED if the Twins are even in any game after the 3rd inning. Yankees sweep with an aggragate score of 30 to the Twins 4.

Game 1: Yanks 21 twins 1
game 2: Yanks 10 twins 2
game 3: yanks 15 twins 1

just 3 blowouts, no questions asked please.

As long as the twins or red sox don't win anything, it's all good.

You are right, I hope they get shut out and destroyed. I hope CC throws a no-hitter, A-Rod goes 7-7, just all-out domination of the Minnesota Twins. Especially their last game in the Humpdump. I want to see tears from the Twins fans while their lucky team gets their brains beaten in. I don't care all the hype the Yankees will get, just obliterate the Twins. No mercy.

I know being a fan of the White Sox, I shouldn't complain about ump calls during crucial games but that Inge call was absolutely bogus and turned the whole game around. He makes the call right, a run scores and the bases are still loaded with just 1 out. That just took away from it being an "epic" game.

I'd be willing to bet this series is closer than expected.

CC hasn't exactly lit it up in the post season, Burnett is such a wild card and Petitte is old and has a "tired shoulder." Their lineup should mash, but I'm hoping for the usual A-Rod choke fest -- it's about the only coverage of the Yankees I can stand.

Obviously the Twins aren't starting world beaters, but they have a very solid bullpen and an annoying lineup of contact hitters with some decent power in the middle of the order.

I think Mauer has a great series but the Yanks ultimately win. Not by a sweep however.

Twins could've won 25 straight for all I care to win this bad division. Without a normal/healthy Liriano, Slowey, and Morneau they don't stand a chance. Sabathia and Mariano Rivera aren't gonna be throwing Zach Miner hanging sliders to Orlando Cabrera to let them back into games. Bring in that bullpen against the heart of that Yankee lineup and watch them get whiplash watching how fast it will fly out of that park.

No surprise to me that the Yankers would choose to start their series today. Just how did they earn this privlige? By having such a good record? By being the almighty New York Yankees and therefore to be given evey advantage, real or otherwise.

Even if the testerday's game hadn't gone into extra innings, the Yankers would have played a team slighty fatigued and may well be playing one that is hang-dog tired.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, any team that wins 100+ games in the big leagues dosen't need any more advantages, real or perceived.

Twins radio announcers were complaining about that yesterday. Saying it was absolutely unfair advantage for a team to choose when to play. Maybe they'll complain after they get swept to change that rule as well.

I know right, our guys are probably exhausted, one courtesy day of practice/flying wouldn't have killed anyone.. But whatever.

I don't think it will effect the Twins. In 2005, we were already in the ALCS when the Yankees and Angels were playing a game 5 in the ALDS in LA after playing game 4 in NY a day earlier due to rainouts. Angels won game 5, and game 1 of the ALCS was in Chicago the next day. What happened? Angels won 3-2.

So I don't think a baseball team needs to be fully rested to be good. This isn't basketball where a team needs its legs for jump shooting; or football or hockey where you need to be conditioned and rested in order to be effective in the 4th quarter or 3rd period.

I see what you mean, hopefully the adrenaline rush, numbs them to being star-struck in Yankee Stadium.

It didn't seem like the Twins were star struck the first time around when they went in Mid-May. Granted, they got swept in 4 games, but all those games were down to the wire or very close. If they keep doing what they have been doing there, then they just need to steal one and sweep the 2 at the dome.

The Yankees have the best record in the AL which earned them the right to pick what series to play. If the Twins don't like it, too bad. Maybe they will whine again so a rule will be changed because life isn't fair.

Scully is widely regarded as one of the great baseball announcers in history. Being the lead broadcaster for baseball on NBC through the 80s with Joe Garagiola, he was the narrator of some of the greatest moments of my generation.

He's a joy to listen to, even today, because of his uncanny, magical ability to tell a story and paint a picture with his words, something that very few baseball announcers have the ability to do (and that includes Farmer and DJ arguiing about the origin of team mascots.)

While I agree he's enthusiastic, I really didn't like how that enthusiasm clouded his call of the final out of Buehrle's perfect game. He yelled "Yes!" over and over. To me, such a moment is meant for some historic words, perhaps a sentence or two that conveys the hugeness of the moment. Saying "Yes" several times is not the sign of a good broadcaster to me. I know others loved Hawk's call of the last out, though.

Wow, Twinks with a horrible miscue. Gomez gets tagged out before Young can score. Heads up by Swish and Jeter.

That was absolutely terrible... This is why this guy rides the pine alot, incase Hawk didn't know.

So far so good though, looks like Burnett is cracking before Blackburn.

They really need to find a replacement for Chip Caray in these TBS broadcasts. "7 up, 7 down vs. Blackburn" actually that's 8 in a row right now, Chip. I realize it's a small detail but after how bad he's been so far, I can't help but notice every little mistake.

I'm glad playoff games aren't on ESPN anymore [as some 1st rounders used to be] so we can avoid Chris Berman, but I do miss Jon Miller. Probably my favorite national announcer.

What, don't you want to hear Berman announce his beloved Red Sox again. :redneck I will admit, I do take personal amusement whenever I watch game 3 of the 2005 ALDS. He was so pathetic...

That said, Jon Miller is a good one.

I thought last year the Sox would have that magic, but they flailed because they just did not have it against the Rays. However, the Yankees play for the money, and I think a team like the Twins is ripe to overcome that barrier.

I know a lot of posters here don't like the Twins but, geez, rooting for the Yankees and their nearly quarter of a billion budget (built on the backs of the small market teams who play the Yankees and make their obscene amount of local media revenue possible) is like rooting for imperial Rome. I hope that the Twins win tonight, win the series and -- sorry, Twins fans -- lose to the L.A. Angels in the ALCS. I like the Angels' manager and have always admired the way they play and, let's face it, the Angels are L.A.'s answer to the White Sox (just as the A's are the Bay Area's answer to the Sox).

Well put. The Angels do overspend to a degree. They overspent for Torii Hunter an off-season after overspending for Gary Matthews Jr.

And, although a die-hard White Sox fan, I find it easy to root for the Giants and loathe the A's, even more than the Yankees, which logically shouldn't be possible.

This series is not over. And I look for a big bounce back against the Spankees, remember we just need t win one of the first 2 in NY, and then anything can happen in a short series at the Dome.

I'm rooting for the Twinkies (thru clinched teeth) but for all the confidence (and cockiness) your Twinkies play with against the Sox they look so timid against the Yankees.

Blown save by Nathan, ok we've seen Nathan do that once against the Sox this year. But now an error sending the runner to 3rd with one out.

It sure would be nice to see the Twinkies do that more often when they play the White Sox.
