Only the Indians could get a CG and 12 Ks from their starter and still lose.

It looked like both teams wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. It had to be depressing playing in a nearly empty ballpark.
Obviously, the offense needs a lot of help this offseason.

Amazing that the Sox won one of these games while scoring a total of 2 runs today. Congrats to Buehrle on getting his 13th win.

I see that Ranger is viewing this thread. He is multitasking. Good for him.
They're obviously starting to ease THornton into the closer role...

Regardless of who they play, it's nice to win.

Is this our first win of the season when scoring 2 runs or less?
Good to see Buehrle go out on a positive note. If we have any hope of competing next year, he MUST bounce back to around his career norm.

No it happened twice before 4/28 they won 2-1, 5/22 they won 2-0.

What an absolutely atrocious offense, simply putrid.

Hooray for pointless wins.
Lots of intensity in today's doubleheader.

We score a total 2 runs in a doubleheader and somehow end up 1-1. Good times.

Buehrle had a rough August, but he still pitched right at his career norms this year. He pitched 35.1 innings with a 3.57 ERA in September. I don't think he has anything to bounce back from.

MB said after the game that his cutter showed up for the last game of the season after going missing the whole season....pitching is a weird deal...hope it comes back next year.

He's had rough stretches before (like late 2006), but I wouldn't call these last couple of months his "career norms." His ERA has been pretty high since late July.
Since you mentioned September, his last 2 outings this month before tonight were pretty bad.
Do I think he'll be fine next year? Absolutely. But I stand by my original statement that we need him to bounce back next year. To say that "he has nothing to bounce back from" is a bit ridiculous unless we're not allowed to say anything on WSI anymore when a good player is struggling.
Oh, and actually his ERA in September is 4.30 (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/gamelog?playerId=4454) (and that includes yesterday's good outing), not 3.57. Before last night, his Sept. ERA was 5.45. But why should we let "facts" spoil this discussion?

I'm sure the Sox could've done that at some point this season.

I'm currently battling the flu, so watching a couple of innings of this White Sox winner made me feel better. I love to see Buehrle pitch the way he did last night and congrats to Mark on getting his 13th win of the season!
Okay, back to bed. Gotta get better.
