I heard this article mentioned on Boers & Berstein earlier today and decided to give it a looksee. After reading it, it had me :rolling:

I had trouble reading this one because I was laughing so much. Essentially it's just an article that pokes fun at the baseball terms "scrappy"/"grinder". It just shows that most of these players just suck at baseball.

Great read....best part

"My team of nine guys who hit like Albert Pujols and never ever bunt just beat your team with one Shane Victorino 472 to 3."

Hahaha man, that is some great stuff. I'm so glad they mentioned Eric Byrnes, but WOW...no David Eckstein at #1? I'm shocked. Love me some good Eckstein-Heart jokes, though:

"David Eckstein's height is: Clutch
His weight is: Hustle"

I love Deadspin.

Today was a good reminder that Fire Joe Morgan is sorely missed.

I think the onion article on Baines/Jeter is more clever:

This post may get roadhoused and edited, but I am willing to accept that. I have to say this: Is anybody besides me tired of the mockers who constantly bring race into it? As in "a scrappy guy is a white guy with no talent." What does race have to do with it? Do they honestly believe that it is a racial thing with guys who pick "scrappy" players? And the mockers aren't even black. They are white guys who are probably dorkier than the dorks who pick "scrappy" players.

By the way, "scrappy" has always been an adjective to describe Nellie Fox. And all he did was play for 19 seasons, hit .300 several times, win AL MVP for a pennant-winning team and make the Hall of Fame. Not bad for a "guy with no talent."

I dont think its racial because think of the guys that get the "scrappy" tag. Here on the Southside alone Rowand, Erstad, Podesednik. Nationally Reed Johnson, Byrnes, Eckstein.

Really puts the Jeter-mania of the past week in perspective, doesn't it?

I've read this twice now, hoping I would get more enjoyment out of it the second time. It didn't work. Bleacher Report articles, including this one, are (unintentionally) funnier. The David Eckstein joke was funny the first time, not 2 through 500.
