Is it appropriate to thank him for 2003 while we're here? I'd much rather remember that Bartolo than the one from 09

I agree, but he seemed to have a funky attitude the last few years, like he expected three or four year contracts when he was coming off serious injuries.

My favorite Bart moments are from 2003 was when he nailed Jerry Hairston, and his nice effort against MIN earlier this year.

I'd like to say 'See Ya Later' but I'm not sure where to find him at.......

I'll remember that when he left here the first time the difference between our offer and the money he got elsewhere wasn't enough to buy a bag o' donuts.

Thanks for the wins, Colon.

The reason Bartolo is missing is to spare us the hurt of seeing him leave. For that, I thank you Bartolo, for thinking about us, The fans.

Good luck to you.

I have no idea how to edit video, but what I will do is listen to this song and in my mind create a montage for you.

At least Kenny doesn't waste a lot of time correcting his mistakes...and Colon was one of them this season.

He's the only pitcher I've ever seen, try to win a major league baseball game, throwing one pitch. 100 pitches- 95 two seam fastballs, 5 curves. What the hell was that?

Ha ha ha! Oh gosh that's funny! That's really funny! Do you write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. Your ex-teammates are giving thanks that there will now be enough for everybody at the postgame spread. You know, I've, I've never heard anyone make that joke before. Hmm. You're the first. And, and yet you've taken that and used it out of context to insult Bartolo in this everyday situation. God what a clever, smart person you must be, to come up with a joke like that all by yourself. That's so fresh too. Any, any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me too as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. God you're so funny!

Good luck, Bartolo. I will always remember that you were a great pitcher before injuries took their toll.

You were one of my favorite hurlers, even when you were in a Cleveland uniform. I loved watching you wipe out batters, except when it was one of my Sox:D:

Go in peace.

I can remember back to when we had season tickets and seemingly every Sunday he would pitch. Even my Mom got to the point where she was like, "Not him again. He's not very good." My response, "Not very good is giving him too much credit."

Seriously. Three pages in this thread and one guy has a grasp on it. Colon actually wasn't THAT bad when he was here. Three wins (should have had more, as I recall the offense letting him down a couple of times) in limited duty... I've seen far worse 5th starters here through the years.

12 starts. 4 quality starts. 3-9 when he started.

He's washed up.

1 year, $1 million?

We have worse contracts still on this team.

I'm not arguiing that he's not washed up. I'm saying this reaction is overstated and overly dramatic for his performance.

The quality starts stat is misleading since the Sox weren't letting him work over five innings at the beginning of the season since he came back early from the injury. The 3-9 record "when he started" is misleading considering how bad the bullpen was.

Overall, as a 5th starter, he wasn't that bad when he wasn't hurt.

1 year, $1 million?

That's about $33,333 per fat joke in this thread. Clearly this signing paid off in the end.

Rick White?
Todd Ritchie?
Jamie Navarro?

I was a little too young to remember Navarro and White. Ritchie? I thought he would work out and was disappointed when he didn't.

Joe Bread and Water.

This would normally be a good one, but I was at that game so I cared a little more than I would have liked to.

Bartolo? First time around I thought he would be a terrific acquisition as he was still in his prime. This season? I really expected nothing. I didn't figure he would last on this team for more than a few starts, and when he did start I wasn't expecting much. He wasn't terrible, he wasn't special, he just didn't really register for me this year.

Part of this has to do with the fact that I'm out of market this year, so I missed almost every game he pitched. I'm not happy nor sad to see him go, but this team needs better options than Bartolo Colon if they want to win the division next year.
