Yeah, that's pretty much the kiss of death. Maybe he said it just for that reason.

Or else he actually believes it? :?:

I prefer to keep a positive frame of mind.

Well we do have our best pitcher (this year) going tonight and Detroit is down 3-1.

He is setting it up so he can say we failed again.

Whatever. I'm hoping the Sox do well on this trip and then we'll look at the standings.

Have 3 at-bats to get at peast 4 runs or we are going to have to play perfect the rest of the roadtrip. Only way we can afford to go 4-2 over the next 6 is if Detroit goes 2-4 or worse. I guess any games we can make up on this trip is good but making up less than 2 games could greatly hurt our chances.

Cause if we go 4-2 and they go 3-3 and we come home down 5 games, it's over?

Maybe he's sincere? Or maybe he's just trying to get a little attention in a season where there are no races to write about? Or both?

Kiss of death.

I believe Jose gave that to the Sox a few weeks ago with a booted ball.

Yes to that question.

My benchmark for keeping this flame alive is 5 games when they get back.
Then they play KC at home while the Tigers go to Minny on the weekend..Sox have to sweep KC,and Twin have to take 2 at least from tigers...get it to 3 going into the last two weeks...we have a race...ok,even 4 would be still doable, but would require Sox to win 5 of 6 from the tigers...doable.

Think about it this way... on Thursday you can write a column that says the Sox will go all the way, on Friday you can write a column saying they're dead. Either way, you'll be right on one of them.

That's the beauty of writing sports in Chicago. Make up complete BS and people will still read it.

Well, he's correct, there's still a scenario that could unfold for us to win this division. It will take a miracle, but hey, mathematically it could happen.

If we never agree with Phil Rogers, doesn't this mean that we think the Sox WON'T go to the playoffs?
