Why when MJ was @ the plate, they didnt pinch hit him for Sandy. Isn't Sandy a better fly ball hitter? That would also take the chance of a pickoff play out.

That's a good point. Not only is Sandy a better flyball hitter, but it is also more difficult for a catcher to pick a runner off third base with a right-handed hitter up. Of course, the result probably would have been the same. Lee screwed up. All the "what if's" in the world won't change that.

Will this ever end?

Uhh, I would have left MJ there. MJ is faster to beat out a DP, and I still can remember Sandy's bases loaded DP against KC to lose it for us.

Can't argue with the 2nd part, but as far as Sandy being a better flyball hitter goes, he had his chance at that a few days ago with the bases loaded in the 9th & the tying run on 3rd against KC. That resulted in a rally-killing double play to end the game. :(:

John Rooney said it best last night after the game ended...
"The Expos tried to give it away, but the Sox wouldn't take it."

Uh, no.

Alomar had had clutch at bats in the two previous 1 run games and had produced ZERO - check that, produced LESS THAN ZERO.

Try one double play to end the game.

Another with 2nd and 3rd one out, he hits a grounder to score 1 run (completely useless as we were down 2).

No, please keep alomar far, far away from the plate in clutch situations.
