View Full Version : Common Misconception About the HHH Metrodome

It has been suggested and outright mentioned several times this week by various sources that the Hubert H. Humphery Metrodome is doing to be demolished after the Twins and Golden Gophers move to Target Field and TCF Bank Stadium, respectively. Not true. The Minnesota Vikings are still at the Metrodome and will stay there through at least the 2011 season when their lease expires. After that, the Vikings could either have a new stadium on the way or leave Minneapolis.

The fact that the Vikes are remaining at the Dome is well known around here. It's just that 99.9% of us want the bleepin' place nuked and the crater declared off limits for 1,000,000 years. That's all.

Yes, that's all the more reason to blow the place up.

Just thought you folks should know...

Let's not harbor any terrorist like ideas on this website.

But I concur.

After that, the Vikings could either have a new stadium on the way or leave Minneapolis. There's a third possibility. There is talk of rehabbing the dome for the Vikings to sign a new lease. The Vikings are not happy with that idea, but in this economy they are not getting a new stadium in Minnesota, so they'll either have to take it or move.

L.A. Vikings (Minnesota has a high Scandinavian population) makes as much sense as the L.A. Lakers (Land of 10,000 Lakes,) who also moved from Minnesota.

I'd like to resurrect JB's plan to purchase the Dome so he can legally do whatever the hell he wants with it.

JB98, I think.

Unfortunately, I still work for a newspaper and don't have much money.

Maybe a wealthy Sox fan will help me finance the deal?

What I will never forget about the dump is that gush of air that pushes you outside when you leave.

I saw both the new Target and TCF fields back in May and they both look nice.

The Pimple on the Prairie will not be missed by baseball fans.

After last night's game, I realize one thing:

It's not the Dome. It's the team.

"It should be used as a roller rink."

Ditka said this in 1987 when talking about rough games the Bears have had up there during that time.

The most common misperception about that place is it was built by human hands.

It is the portal to hell - like the TV in Poltergeist or the red glowing hole in the basement floor in Amityville.
