I now have to say that Kenny messed this team up when he picked up Rios. Since this trade, certain members of this team have packed it in. There was no need to pick up Rios and his bad contract, none.

That said, this team has no sack save Pods, Beckham, A.J., Floyd Danks and Garcia.

What makes us think we'll be that much better in 2010?

Add Peavy and we've got a nice starting rotation.

Bullpen still bad.
Clutch hitting still bad.
Will Rios get better?
What happens to RF and DH? Need to upgrade in lots of places.

Hey people it could be worse... we could be KC Royals or Washington Nationals fans!!! We were in this thing until a couple weeks ago, while those teams were basically done when the season started. As the team has packed it in, I've given up hope this season... but the future looks bright. This gives KW plenty of reasons to clean house a little bit and re-stock the cupboards with faster and younger talent... we'll have some good arms next year, we just need to get some of the "base-clogging, .230 hitting guys" out of this line-up. I will for one miss them, but we'll be better off when they are out of the system.

There just isn't much interest for a less than mediocre team anymore... I think a lot of us are waiting for this weekend and next, for football to get started. This team isn't worth much more than checking the score and watching a few innings here and there.

The Yankees, offering a boatload of cash to nab another team's superstar? NAHHHHHH! Never happen! Truth, though, I don't think that Mauer would like the glare of the NY media, so maybe the $$$ won't work on him, as long as the Twinkies make him very well-paid.

I have to wonder if the guy is playing through injuries in a contract year. The last time I saw Dye this bad at the plate was in 2007 when he was out there on his gimpy knee. He rebounded in a big way in 2008 and was equally good the first half of this year. I have nothing to base this on other than the eerily similar Dye peformance from 2007. Ozzie also made a cryptic comment in today's Sun Times saying (and I'm paraphrasing here) "there were more players than people knew" in Hermie's training room after ball games. You have to wonder if Dye is one of them.

I don't think that Mauer would like the glare of the NY media, so maybe the $$$ won't work on him, as long as the Twinkies make him very well-paid.

That sounds like a Twins fan's wishful thinking. Human nature alone says go for the most money. NY Media vs. Nostalgia of the Yankee Pinstripes, the latter often wins. He's the top dog on the Twins but the Yankees are loaded with other distractions like A-Rod.

Here's some perspective:

The Peavy trade was one month ago today. My, how things change.

I can't believe Rios got this ridiculous contract. The guy is barely even better than BA.

Aren't we glad that the Cubs game coming up is meaningful for both teams?

I look on the bright side: No need to even consider paying that playoff ticket invoice by Wednesday.

Only 2 more games at the Metrodome.

Yep, two more losses too.

Well, with Thome and Jose gone, we know a couple things now...We will have a new DH tomorrow...maybe Flowers? If I was Ozzie, I would play Flowers,Getz,Kotsay,Gordo,Pods,Rios Carlos,AJ and Rios tomorrow nite.
They cannot do worse than the vets.
At least Peavy's elbow is ok,some consolation. Like to see him come back for a few starts just to see what he has. Shock the world,Sox...the awful august is over, and Sweet September is here....rip off a winning streak to keep us interested...pretty please?

How about some pride and win these last 2? Or 1?

And just on a sidenote, I don't want the Twins winning this ****ing division, so let's not totally tank to them.

For real... Let's make the twins hurt. I'd rather see the Tigers win it.

Have the Sox set a record this season for 2-out runs allowed? 4 out of 4 (last night) tonight. :whiner:

A half-season slump that may rival Konerko's 1st half of '03.

Or even 2nd half '02.

I realized this morning that my husband has really thrown in the towel. I was planning on letting our black, White Sox flag fly until the last Sox game. This morning it was gone, and the orange "I" was in its place. It's all good.

Over or not, beat the g******* Twins tonite, tomorrow nite, and when they come to Soxpark late in the season.
Last thing I want is for the Twins to be deemed the ''Team of the Decade'' in the AL Central.
Do not let them add another division title to their list.

That's exactly what I said this morning! My boys thought baseball season was over since their daddy replaced the Sox flag with the "I" flag. I said baseball's not over for the teams that make it to the playoffs. But the Sox are pretty much toast.

Wish there was a "you like" button on here. Great reply!! Totally agree!!

So, instead of the Twins, who build from their own organization and play sound fundamental baseball, you'd rather have the Tigers, another team that has tried to buy a championship by going after big-dollar free agents? To each his own, I guess.

I'm probably biased by living in Minnesota and having so many friends here who are Twins fans.

It would be interesting to see how that organization would do in a salary capped league.

"A Stone" is one of most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Dulled the pain of this game.

I enjoy that song too. You need to see them in concert the next time they're in town - they're one of the best bands I've seen live. Will Sheff is absolutely brilliant.

I've been turning to music a little too frequently now during Sox games. Putting the TV on mute and listening to my tunes instead.
