More a feeling of relief than anything tonight.

Go Sox. Make it two in a row tomorrow.

Kotsay with some shades of Tom Brunansky to end the 1990 season there in the RF corner.

Works for me! We pick up a half-game on the idle Tiggers and I can finally get a good night's sleep. But I'm not going to make a big deal about winning a game until this team starts consistently winning games.

It was nice to see that the team played like they actually do give a damn! On to New York where the winning will hopefully continue!

Always great to beat the BoSox, but I was not happy with the last few innings of this one.

Here's the small rant portion: We couldn't score a run off a darn infielder who walked three guys? Come on, they're throwing this guy out there in order to not waste any pitchers' arms, it should be like batting practice. You'd think the final score would have been 15-0, but we end up going from 9-0 to 9-5.

And here's the I'm happy portion: I'm just happy to get this one in the books. We needed this win badly going in to a tough series. If we can somehow eek out a series win in the Bronx, I will be ecstatic! Let's take what we did in the first few innings and start teeing off on the Yanks' pitching staff!

Soxfanreggie, that's how I felt - so glad for the win but not happy with the ending of the game. I'm also feeling like - oh, so that's how it's going to be. Same mad roller coaster ride as last year. Just when I think I'm about to give up. That's ok, I'll take that ride to the very end.

Really glad to see that we held on to win this one. And yes, I actually started to doubt the ability to hold a 9 run lead. Their shortstop pitched 2 scoreless against us, but we've never seen him before.:o:

They didn't have any video on him. That is the whole key.

I didn't mind the solo HRs. You have a 9-run lead, throw strikes. They're going to make outs.

Dotel, on the other hand. 7-run lead is like a 9-run lead. You throw strikes and make them hit their way on. That walk was inexcusable.

It's so hard to sweep to a 4 game series, hell we can't sweep a 3 gamer.

It's a win. Take it and see what comes out of the trip to NY.

I think we need be prepared to play softball scores at that park,

Happy to see the win and how well Danks looked. But it will take one more than one game for me to change my mind about this team. The Yankees can be beat.

soxfanreggie
08-27-2009, 11:06 PM
Hopefully this game got them fired up for the Bronx. Even with the win, I would have been very embarassed to get shut down by a shortstop who probably hasn't thrown an inning in the majors before.

More like it. Beat CC tomorrow, please. Then Mitre.
Johnny came thru...third well pitched game in a row by our starters...now lets go for a couple of rotation turns pitching well, MB? If we could win tonorrow nite, ...might bode well for the rest of the trip.

JD and Rios out of the lineup helped keep the line moving a bit more with Kotsay and AJ(third spot) getting hits along with Pods and Carlos.
Time to wake up JD and Alex.!..CC awaits.

Seconded...

Had to win one eventually, hope this leads to the offense waking up. I expected a few runs based on Boston's starting pitchers stats, but this was an especially nice statment.

Keep it going in NY and then do their best to knock the twinkies back a peg next week.

Yes, angry people are more likely to post than happy people. That's a reality. Just look at the "letters to the editors" in the paper. Hardly any discussing how great life is.

This win was absolutely huge! We needed this badly. I think this could be a season saver. It is now a 4 game lead instead of a 5 game lead, and a 5 game losing streak heading into Yankee Stadium would have been devastating. This could be the little pick me up we need. Now, taking 2 of 3 in Yankee Stadium is quite the task, but if we can do that and pick up a game heading into the dumpdome, we might just be alright. There's no question the Sox are going to have to step it up big time though.

My bad. I could have sworn Joe Buck was promoting this game two weeks ago as "the potential return of Jake Peavy."

Well, I guess for better reason they did not pick up our game (we stink and no Peavy).

Was at the game today..first trip to Fenway and it was pretty cool. The Red Sox Fans next to us were pretty gracious and I had some Blue Jays fans on the other side that were pretty complementary of Rios. I had a very angry Red Sox fan swear at me before the game at a bar across the street BEFORE the game but that was just amuzing.

All in all great win. Makes my trip to Boston a lot more enjoyable. I was impressed by the White Sox contingent....there weren't a ton of us there but everyone I met from Chicago was awesome.

It was the only Sox fans they showed.

You picked the right game to attend. Nice and quiet for most of the game,eh?
Now, go down to Yankee stadium, sit in the bleachers, and take on those Bronx fans...we need the karma.

I had to work last night so I wasn't able to watch the game but it sure was to fun to listen to it on the radio. Really enjoyed listening to a White Sox winner ! :bandance: And then I got home and watched the highlights on Comcast and was happy to see that the Sox bats woke up. Keep it going in NY this weekend, boys. Go Sox!
