We have 4 in boston, 3 in ny, and 3 in minny. What do u think it will take to still be in the division race going into the first week in september?

I believe a 5-4 trip will keep us in this thing. While we are on the trip detroit has 3 at the angels and 4 against tb. Atleast they don't play cupcakes.

Let's pick the right time to get hot. GO SOX!!!

Nice catch. I'd agree. Every extended period of White Sox play this year looks like a microcosm of the whole. A little bit better than .500 baseball, but not by much.

Now that I have realized I made a mistake when i created the poll...is there a way I change the poll options so that they go along with an 11 game road trip. I don't know why I acted as if it were nine in the first place. It's amazing that watching the Sox while doing this can even screw up simple math...lol!!

Here's hoping they at least get splits in Boston and NY and then somehow get a good showing in Minn. I'm still hanging on to Bill Melton's prediction of the Minnie sweep.

Trouble is that the Bosox are getting hot now and the Yankees are playing great ball ever since the break

2-2 in Boston
2-1 in NY
1-2 in Minny - we ain't getting out of the hell-hole on a good note...
1-0 in Wrigley

6-5 total. Hopefully we don't lose too much ground to the Tigers. If we come out of that 2-4 behind the Tigers, we're in good shape.

"To stay close"... Tigers have some tough games coming up too so I am going to say anything around 4-5 or 5-4 will keep us within striking range. Doesn't mean us Sox fans will be happy but we will be close.

8-3 on this 11 game trip.

4-7. We cant win a series against a team that has been out of it since June. I really wouldnt be shocked if we are in the same place we are now when the trip is over with the Twins right there with us.

Ugh. What can I say, the Sox are a little better than .500, that's what happens on the trip, 6-5

If the Sox go 5-6, I will be satisfied.

As long as they can keep the deficit at 2.5 games, I'll be happy.

2-2 @ boston
2-1 @ new york
2-1 @ minneapolis
1-0 @ wrigley ____________

Just barely above .500 will keep the Sox close or maybe even gain a game since the Tigers suck almost as much as the Sox if not more, records be damned.

To answer the poll question: use Alexei as a pinch hitter for Kotsay more often.

I'm usually not one for bold predictions, but I'm putting one out there.

Record aside, we're coming home in first place.

I'd like some clarification on what we are "predicting" here. The original post said "What do u think it will take to still be in the division race going into the first week in september" but I'm reading a lot of replies to mean what people think the White Sox will do on this road trip.

Also, the poll options are based on 9 games:scratch:, but this road trip is 10 games (11 games if you count the make up game at Wrigley).

I answered 5-4 for what the Sox "need" to do. What I think they will do in the 10 games in BOS, NY, and MIN is 3-7. 2-8 wouldn't surprise me either. That should be good enough to drop us to 3rd place. This last home stand should have made it loud and clear to us: The Sox have no fight in them. They're packing it in and probably already looking ahead to the offseason and 2010.

It doesn't matter how many times KW or Ozzie calls these guys out, it has no impact on the results.
