They rank him as the best set-up man in baseball.

I agree with Thornton being the best. He is better than Bobby.

I thought Guerrier was a top prospect of ours. What exactly did we get for him? It would be nice to have him back.

I believe we got Damaso Marte for him.

I believe we got Damaso Marte for him.

If that is the case I am happy with that. Marte was a beast at times for us.

Even though he's not a closer, Thornton is the most consistent bullpen stud we've had this year.

Thornton is awesome and the guy I have the most trust from your bullpen.

I go:

1. Thornton
2. Dotel
3. Jenks
4. Carrasco
5. Pena

When the Sox had Gordon/Marte going back to back.... that's probably the best combo I can remember. It was lights out.

Thornton was also in the pop-culture grid in SI. The only one I remember was him being told he looks like Woody from Toy Storyhttp://www.collider.com/uploads/imageGallery/Toy_Story/toy_story_movie_image_buzz_and_woody.jpghttp://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Chicago+White+Sox+Photo+Day+JfOy5NfPokpl.jpg.

Cotts, Politte, Marte, Hermanson, Jenks. The 05' bullpen was awesome. Cotts and Politte had career years.

Instead of Linebrink, Thornton should've gotten all that money.

Well, Linebrink was good til he got injured.

I just feel alot more confident when Thornton is on the mound than Linebrink OR Dotel.

I agree. The '03 pen was solid but the '05 pen put opposing teams to sleep. The combo of Politte/Cotts in the 8th and Hermanson/Jenks in the 9th was incredible that year.

I was just telling someone the other day that Thornton's WXRL was off the charts.....

I remember when it was fairly publicized that Coop told KW that he badly wanted Thornton. Thorny was coming off an 0-4, 5.21 ERA season, with 57 Ks and 42 BBs with the Mariners. Instead of scratching my head and wondering what the **** Coop was thinking I just knew that Coop must have seen something he liked and rested assured he would produce for the team once Coop straightened him out. I'm so glad my hunch was correct. Thornton deserves credit for his performance but it is worth mentioning that Don Cooper is just amazing.

Matt is still doing OK for himself financially.

He's the best left-handed reliever in baseball.

Does that mean his radio station is getting good ratings?

Thornton's always been my favorite bullpen pitcher, bout time SI showed him some recognition :D:

Why I voted him our must underappreciated player. I would love to sign the guy on for another year or two to what he has now, possibly even re-work one of the years he has on his original dea.

Matt's the only guy that I completely trust in the bullpen. He throws the smoothest 96+ mph fastball that I've ever seen.
