He says he got a phone call from El Duque and he was told that if he wants to win he should wear his pants up high.

It's not the first time El Duque has contributed to Jose's success. Maybe the Sox should hire him as Jose's personal pitching coach. :gulp:

I heard that. Sounds like Conteras will keep the pants up until he loses. We need a nice long luck filled winning streak right now.

My dad and I were at the game today, and we noticed the high socks while Jose was getting ready in the dugout.

We both agreed that the high socks could only help. :D:

I love high socks...I wish they'd design the uniforms so the "pajama pants" look wasn't even an option.

I also love El Duque...that guy simply has class.

Hopefully it will keep him rolling thru the Bermuda triangle of Boston,NY and Wrigley...3 huge starts the next two weeks for Jose. If he can win all three,I would feel good about the Sox chances....ok,2 of 3.:D:

I also love El Duque...that guy simply has class.I was really happy that, at that Oakland game where they wore the 1929 uniforms, they had them so everyone was wearing the high socks. In the past, players have worn throwbacks with the pants down on the shoe tops, and I figured "why bother if you're not going to do it right."

Why stop at high socks? Why not go with stirrups! He wouldn't allow a baserunner if he wore stirrups!

I'm also a big fan of socks and stirrups! Why dosen't MLB do a uniform code like the NFL and NBA?

I love the high socks too. I have been complaining about the long baggy pants for years! I'm glad neither of my sons wore their uniforms that way.

I so wish that they did. I love that look as well and add to that that the White Sox would then have black stirrups over white socks and be more true to what their team name sounds like.

Now that is a great memory.
