Is it just me or does anyone else want him to succeed in the majors. It's just cool that there is another knuckleballer in the bigs

Did he ever have an average outing with the sox?

well his debut was against the Angels. He gave up 5 ER and 6 BB. but after that start he made multiple relief appearances and had a 1.29 ER the rest of the way. In '08 he got roughed up by DET, NY and BOS and was sent down.
He signed with the Padres and was let go after he did horribly

Yeah, I've always loved knuckleballers. I hope he does well.

I was really excited about him when he was with us. I hope he finds success.

The Dodgers are also 22 games over .500 with a five game lead and are more than likely already in the post season.

They have more room to maneuver and experiment...the Sox don't.

I really wanted Haeger to work out for us. But like with most ex-Sox I hope he does good.

He'll play home games at sea level in a pitcher-friendly park and he'll only face anemic NL lineups. It's a good situation for him.

That would be no excuse for you if the Sox were in that position.

BTW, don't count out both the Giants and Rockies.

I am going to go ahead and count them out.

You do that. With over a month and a half to go, and only a 5 game lead, there's nothing to be overconfident about. Especially when the Giants have by far the best pitching staff in baseball, and the Dodgers' staff has been shaky at best.

Crazier things have happened. You remember our lead on August 1, 2005, right?

And Charlie gives it up in the 7th, but that was a solid outing. No walks.

Well he only has 80 pitches he is probably not done.

I'd rather see him win in the majors instead of Steven Strasburg.

Haeger part II against the Cubs Saturday

I predict no hitter :redneck

Seriously though a knuckleballer can throw off an entire team and could prove to be the death knell to the Cubs playoff hopes

He threw a nice game! I also would like to see him make it just because I like knuckleball pitchers.

Or at least a good swift kick in the ass in that direction.

I dont subscribe to the crazier things have happened thought process when picking an unrelated race. The Dodgers are easily the best team in the west if not the NL.

Perhaps you've missed the Cardinals lately. They just bent the Dodgers over a barrel, taking 2 of 3 and 3 of 4 from them. The Phillies are also good. Both have deeper starting pitching than the Dodgers, too.

I understand that the Cards worked them over good in StL, but in this last series, the two games the Cards won were 3-2. The reality is, it was a very tight series and could easily have gone the other way. I'd hardly say they "bent them over a barrel" in this last series.

But yes, the Cards and Phils are hot and the Dodgers aren't right now. However, I think the 05 Sox serve as an example of a team that struggled in Aug and we all know how that turned out.
