View Full Version : Last Night With The Kids On The Field

Last night I also watched the game and the first child that was out on the field well I don't know if I would have thrown her out but from the look of the situtation she did'nt even belong in that area also someone else's post said she was thrown out of the game but I heard during the game that she was escorted back to her seat & her & her parent(s) we're told not to have her do it again. As far as the second one it looked like he fell out onto the field and then chased down the ball he also was escorted back up to his seat later the umpiring crew chief Tim McClelland(i think thats the right spelling of his last name) saw the child up in the stands crying he called the kid down and talked with him (hopefully explaining that what the little guy did was'nt to smart something the kids Father , who was with him should have done)the umpire then reached into his back pocket and gave the kid a baseball Pretty Cool on McCellands part. But what I think should have been done is with the idiot parents or adults that we're with these children, just think if the first kid had caused Konerko to loose that popup & had gotten hurt, I mean she came right out onto the field while the ball was in the air still within the playing area I can see the second child falling out onto the field but again if the ball is fair and you have 200 pound ballplayers chasing after it and all of sudden theres this child that you're running over. What are these people who are bringing children to the games thinking. :gulp:

I heard the girl was just relocated within the stadium which maybe explains why some think she was removed. Anyway, anyone on the field or anyone interfering with a live ball should be removed and possibly fined. I especially hate it when someone interferes with our own Sox players attemting to make a play - they should be beat up. It's just a baseball, I've gotten several over the years, it's no big deal. How many times does a Sox player not get a chance to score from 1st when some yo-yo grabs a ball down the line, and then he holds the ball up and stupid fans cheer.

I was dissapointed to see that WGN showed a replay of the incident with the girl, earlier in this ballgame. It isn't something that's worthy of most people's attention. Konerko thought it was funny, but I don't. Kids have no business being on the field. There have already been enough problems with fans running onto the field and spectators being injured by flying objects, such as the girl who was killed when a puck flew into the stands. Sporting events are meant to be fun, but there is always a small risk associated with bringing children to games.

I say no matter who does it, kick 'em out. If it's a child, accident or not they should still have to leave...along with the parents. Since parents are to be held responsible for what their children do. I think it's rediculous they let that girl on the field for so long waiting to catch the popup. I don't care what her age is, you know better than to enter the playing field of a game. Especially at a professional game.
first off, i bring my boys to the games often, they have been going with me since they were 4 and 5 (they are now 11 and 12).. they know the rules and they abide by them or i kick their butts....plain and simple and they will never set foot in a ball park with me again... if one of my kids started to reach over the rail to catch a ball i would have snatched him back and brought him up to the concourse and kicked his butt then and there....i remember the orioles game last season (one of cals last games at comiskey).....a few friends and i were sitting in the upper part of the sports bar.. this kid who was sitting down the first baseline reached out and grabbed a fair ball which was hit off the bat of ray ray and cost him the double.....talk about pissed.....while myself and the whole section screamed throw the kid out, his dad sat there and high fived him......i wanted to kick the living stuffing out of both of them....of course neither one of them got ejected from the ball park..... correct me if im wrong here but isnt one of the rules to leave the ball alone if its in fair territory or suffer ejectioin from the park????? they should start enforcing it..........luckly none of those kids got hurt and did not hurt any of our players in the process... it would have been the pits if paulie tripped over that little girl and got put on the dl for any period of time........

Yeah, I was at that game... I was in the right field "bleacher/seats" they have out there and I was screaming at that damn kid and his fat ass dad, but they just sat there, stupidly unaware that they had cost the Sox a mjaor scoring chance in a game were they needed them.
Of course the kids can't be blamed, it's a natural reaction to want the ball... But the parents...
your right MM it does start with the parents.....if you cant control your kids then dont bring them out in public....if you must then keep a leash on them.......lol

At least the kid was paying attention while sitting in the front row. How many times have kids & adults almost get drilled by a ball while they were facing THE OTHER DIRECTION! If you get primo seats at least watch out for flying objects.
And you know if that girl got run over the parents would be filing a lawsuit againt, Pauly, the Sox, Comiskey Park and MLB before the game even ended--and would probally get $$$ from it!!
