Might be the end of his career. Although with guys like Gaudin and Pavano getting traded, you'd think one team might be willing to give him a shot. For Smoltz's sake, hopefully it's an NL team.

He gets torched every outing. What a waste of money he was. Gammons said he was going to be the greatest thing for the Red Sox.

I actually thought the Sox signing Colon made more sense than Boston signing Smoltz. Still do, despite Fat Bartolo's MIA routine.

I saw this coming three miles away. I hope he hangs it up before getting seriously injured from whiplash.

Cubs need a closer.

Perhaps he should consider becoming a reliever...again. He obviously doesn't have it anymore, but I wonder if anyone will pick him up.

Hopefully he just hangs it up, I'd still love to see the possibility of Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine all go into Cooperstown together, the way it should be.

Gammons said the same thing about Wade Miller.

Yeah, lefties are hitting .450 off of him.

Time to hang 'em up Johnny; it happens to the best of them.

If Smoltz is done, he's had a helluva good career. I remember staying in nights during college to watch Glavine, Smoltz and Avery pitch for the Braves.

As other posters have suggested, it would be cool to see Smoltz, Maddux and Glavine enter Cooperstown together.

It can't happen now that Smoltz has already pitched this year. The only way it could happen now is if Maddux and Glavine don't get into the Hall on their first try, and that's obviously not happening with Maddux.

Ha. MLB the show had him rated as the red sox best pitcher before the season started. Should have moved him to the bullpen

Not only that, but he started every 'Trade Brad Penny' rumor when Smoltz joined the team.
