Anybody else get one this weekend?
They're pretty nice and a decent size but... Why the heck did the Sox not do a player bobble head?

You still could have had Miller Lite sponsor it but it makes no sense to have a generic Beer Vendor instead of a player.

I would have liked an AJ one in his catching gear myself.

Nope. Didn't even give it a second glance when I walked in either. You're going to do a bobblehead do a player. Do Nancy Faust. Do Roger Bossard. Hell, do Vinny Fresso...but a random faceless beer vendor? Pass.

I got one. It's something I've always wanted..a White Sox beer vendor bobble head.

Who doesn't want one of those?
I think the whole "Beer Vendor Appreciation" campaign is a little strange..

They already have an AJ one in catching gear they gave out to season ticket holders.

They did an AJ bobblehead in his catcher's gear for an incentive to buy season tickets at the end of the 2008 season.

I got mine this weekend. I thought that it was kind of neat, but looks sort of odd sitting on my shelf between the Swisher and A.J. bobbleheads.

Personally, I love it (my mom grabbed one for me on Saturday), though I'm biased because my uncle and his girlfriend have been beer vendors at both Comiskey and Wrigley for nearly 25 years, and now my brother sells hot dogs at the cell.

I have a strong feeling the conversation went like this:

Sox exec 1: "We should have a bobblehead day this year!"
Sox exec 2: "Yeah we should, but how are we gonna pay for it?"
Miller exec: "Hello! We will make it for you 100% free!"
Sox exec 1: "Really, cool! What's the catch?"
Miller exec: "Let us put our logo all over it and its yours at no cost!"
Sox exec 2: "Ok, fine!"

I didn't know the promotion was a bobble-head until I arrived at U.S. Cellular. I got excited because I thought it was a player at first. I rarely drink beer so I'd like to find a good home for my figure.

I emailed Boyer weeks back. Part of the email I asked him was why there wasnt no bobblehead day, he replied back no sponsors.

Yeah, I'm sure Pepsi couldn't shell out a little cash to cover bobblehead costs.

I believe you but I find that very hard to believe. Like that one thread we had, it showed that almost every other team has no problem finding sponsors for at least 3 bobblehead days a year. Seems like an excuse for not wanting to make the effort to have one.

I find it even harder to believe that the organization would turn down an opportunity to make a buck for being lazy...especially in this economy.

Please tell me this is the hot dog whisperer. Because I agree, she almost makes no sound whatsoever.

The Sox were disappointed they waisted last years bobblehead game on underachieving Nick Swisher. As a result they decided to honor the one person they knew would deliver! :gulp:

Except of course in late inning situations.

THey made an AJ one and gave it out as a gift to season ticket holders. They sell once in a while on ebay for about $75.

C'mon get real. The Brewers have about a dozen bobblehead giveaways. There are more corporate sponsors in Milwaukee than Chicago?

Kenny cries about attendance. Have 5 bobblehead giveaway days on prime games where they jack up the prices and really stick to to the fans like in the Dodger series. Give away a Buehrle, Dye, Beckham or even better, Ron Kittle, Dick Allen or Wilbur Wood bobblehead, and theyll sell every one of those overpriced tickets.

Instead of the generic beer vendor bobble head, they should have gone with the singing guy who usually patrols the 1st base line in the lower box section. He's awesome.

Edit: I went to the game on Saturday, but arrived about ten minutes beforehand and they were out of the bobbleheads. I didn't really care after I saw one. I was gonna offer the guy sitting next to me, who had two, ten bucks for it (because I never get there in time for the promotions and was kinda pissed), but after I saw it I declined my offer.

I completely agree. Not only do the Brewers have a bunch of bobblehead days but they also give them out to all of the fans not just the first 20,000.

And every podunk minor league team has a few bobblehead giveaways too. Last week i picked up a few Bobby Jenks bobbleheads that were given away at a minor league game. The Arkansas Travelers can get a company called Pig - N - Chik to pick up the cost of a bobblehead giveaway and that a major league team like the White Sox claims they cant find a sponsor to pick up the tab? Im sorry, im not buying it, not even in this economy. There are hundreds upon hundreds of minor league bobblehead days. If the Sox cant find a sponsor, they should pony up the cash, and remember some of the great Sox players on their own. I think if they give these away during the rip off games, i mean prime games, that will keep the stadium packed and its a win-win for everyone.

For those who don't want there bobbleheads, they are going for $10 or more on eBay right now with several bids. Why not sell it and take the money and buy yourself a case of beer or put it towards food at your next game.
