The cap the White Sox wore from 1987-1990 is for sale at lids.com for those interested. It is a much beloved or much hated Sox hat in their uniform history.

It had the handwriting "C" that looked like a lower case "e'.

I thought that it was pretty cool.

Looks like a nice hat, however it is my least favorite hat design ever for the SOX (and they have had many). I liked the jerseys/uniforms (after they removed the number from the pants), but the hat never did anything for me.

If you're going to get this hat, why not just go with the American Needle version that is as authentic as they come, instead of the bastardized Lids version.

This is the real deal:

Lids version (logo too large, MLB logo on the back shouldn't be there, new era logo on the side, hat looks black instead of blue, all wrong...)

I have this hat in the American Needle version, and it is much nicer than the one Lids is selling.

Th one at lids is made by New Era which makes the authentic caps worn by MLB players today. IMO that makes it closest to the real thing also imo the MLB logo on the back is pretty cool because the old cap is made to today's standards.

I have the American Needle one too. :D: I never wear it though, just for my collection. I don't like it much, it looks too much lie a e.

I used to like fitted hats - now I like the Easy Fitted better.

If its the wrong color and the logo is off, i dont care who makes it.

I'd rather have one that at least looks like the one they actually wore.

Not New Era's version of what is close to what they wore.

But the colors and sizing (as Brian points out) are all wrong. They've had these hats at Grandstand for a little while and, as someone who adores the 1987-1989 jerseys, I saw the authentic Lids version and noticed how badly it looked immediately.

I don't like authentic baseball hats at all (I prefer the ones that are soft all the way around and don't have that hard fabric in the back of the front 1/3 of the hat, so I went with the Cooperstown Collection hat from '47 Twins. They've been selling those at Grandstand for a while now. Looks great, fits my head, can't beat it. I've been wearing this hat almost non-stop since I bought it in May... Might have to go back and get a 2nd, this one is already starting to fade. :D:

The Lids one looks like something C.C.Sabathia would wear cocked to the left.

Since these are my favorite Sox uni's too, I got mine a few years ago from this site - http://www.mickeysplace.com/. Not sure if it would still be the case now, but mine is a New Era, doesn't have the New Era logo on the side and doesn't have the MLB logo on the back either, AND the C is the right size. It also isn't one of the high crown styles that seemed to prevalent at the time, which I absolutely hated.

That hat is also way too expensive from Lids. American Needle version is also way much better looking.

Yeah I think I saw this hat for 10 dollars less at Grandstand today.

No.
Okay, I did a little searching and found out they're a cap company.

I had never heard of them and was honestly confused.

I always called those the Pig Tail hats. They remind me too much of the Ivan Calderon Era.

I personally think the late 80's uniforms were underrated.

Same here. I always liked the simplicity of them. Especially liked the striped stirrups for the '88 version (and even more later on when I found out why the stripes were instituted that year). Could have done without the numbers on the upper left thigh on the '87 & '88's, but hey, can't win all the time.
