More fun that way. Admit it. Only speck in the oatmeal, Danks throwing a fat pitch on 0-2 to Texeira. Very small speck. Bobby's velocity was down. He looks thin; must have been in too much pain to eat. Get that man a cheeseburger.

What a game...

Nice to see the return of chat too. I was forced to follow on gamecast, so didn't contribute much, but it was rocking and rolling. Thanks to Awesomefan for reminding us all it exists.

Nice performance all the way around. Sox did a great job of limiting damage in several tough spots against an amazing lineup. Then when given the chance they absolutely took advantage for two big innings and a couple of damage control frames that kept the lead comfortable.

Have to love a game when you get an outfield assist on a forceout and while Nix may have struggled with the glove, he did just fine at the plate.

Go for the whole enchilada tomorrow. No mercy...

Only blemish of the night: Gordon's mental error that caused a double-play to end that big 8th inning. I'm sure Ozzie will have a nice long talk with Becks about keeping his head in the game, no matter the score.

Better to have something like that happen when we're up by 10 rather than down by 1, though. If we were behind, that would have broke our backs.

Also, was I the only one annoyed about Farmio constantly calling Hairston "Harriston"?

Though Nix needs more work on defense, he was tough with the bat. Good at bats for a rookie, enough for them to intentionally walk him! Hmmm, they won 3 games while he's starting at short??

It's official, our rookies are downright scary. Yes this was missing from last year, there was Alexi but now the Sox have more quality rookies. I think many were scared the 2009 Sox would decline with the "Rust Belt" or the "Legacy boys" (Dye, Thome, Konerko). But these rookies match up with what Tampa Bay had last year, capable of national league style Ozzie Ball.

Oh yeah! I literally LOLed when FOX showed the replay...Posada literally held up the ball as if to say "See! I had possession of the ball in my hand when I tagged him with my mitt...oh, crap."

I had a little flashback to the 2005 ALCS on that replay.

How is Getz stacking up btw? They showed a graphic and it looked as though he's near the top of quite a few rookie categories himself. Obviously he'd never win ROTY, but would he maybe be mentioned in the discussion if Beckham wasn't called up? Call me a pessimist, but I wasn't overly optimistic about our chances at getting to Burnett today. Color me thrilled.

Burnett had a career 2.78 vs. the Sox coming into today. The Sox have beaten him a couple times before, but I believe this is the first time they've hit him this hard.

Just got home from the game. That second inning was great. I was hi-fiving this guy I didn't know every 30 seconds. He kinda looked like Steve Wilkos. What a game!

I'm either really proud of our defense playing some heads-up ball, or I'm glad the Yankees suck at base running. I'm also proud of Scotty and Nix being diligent at the plate with the bases loaded. It's good to know that we were able to bring Burnett down to earth a bit. Danks wasn't fantastic, but he got the job done, and everybody chipped in. Plus, we scored all fourteen runs on base hits and walks. That's baseball.

At a glance I'd say Beckham's competition is Nolan Reimold (LF-BAL), Brad Bergesen (SP-BAL) and Jeff Niemann (SP-TB). They're all looking good right now.

Getz is second tier with Wieder, among others.

Red - I think we have been seeing it all year...good enough to win. Bad enough to lose. 90+/-5 wins. A playoff spot is possible. And from there, in a few post season serieses, who knows?

I will say this...there is no 4 man rotation we will see in the ALDS/ALCS that is clearly better than ours if Peavy is back healthy.

Buehrle
Peavy
Danks
Floyd

Beckett
Lester
Penny
Smoltz

Sabathia
Burnett
Pettite
Chamberlain

Shields
Garza
Kazmir
Price

Lackey
Weaver
Saunders
Santana

And even Philly, the best of the NL, doesn't compete.

Hamels and Lee is good - but Blanton and Moyer? Not close.

The Real 2009 White Sox? Who knows? Day to day.

Decided to stop in on WSI for the first time in a couple days. I'm proud to say I brought us a win Friday and a win Saturday bringing my record to 9W-0L on the season. The Sox just don't lose with Foulke You in the house. The usual amount of Yankee fans in the house but they didn't have a whole lot to cheer about Saturday.

Observations:

-Nix is seeing the ball so much better lately and obviously being more patient with the 4 walks (one intentional). Laying off that low-inside garbage from right handers is the key for him.

-Beckham is just ridiculous. I haven't seen a rookie from our own system hit like this so fast since Frank Thomas back in 1990 and 1991. It's a pleasure to watch.

-Peavy looks good in Sox pinstripes. Saw him chatting it up with former Padre Mark Kotsay before game time. He is wearing #44 if anyone is wondering.

-Quentin is now hitting the ball with authority. If he is back, our lineup could be something special.

-That Yankees bullpen doesn't look as good as years past. They don't have much to bridge the gap to Rivera. I never thought I'd say this but they miss Damaso Marte.

-I love the baserunning in this series. I wish we ran them this crisply all year long.

-The two guys on the Yankees who hurt us the most are gone. Bobby Abreu and Jason Giambi. It always seemed those two would hit crippling homers against us when we played the Yanks.

A four game sweep of the Yankees would be so, so, sweet. The Sox look geeked for this series and we have the right guy on the bump Sunday too. Regardless of what happens though, 3 straight against the Bronx Bombers is fantastic.

Wish we had saved some of those runs for today. I have a feeling we will need them vs CC. Sox need to scrap out a win today somehow...gonna be tough with CC's history vs Sox and MB's struggles vs Yanks.

But,no doubt, Sox offense seems to be happy to be back home for a change. On the road vs tigers and twins, the offense just stunk for some reason.

I like that Weaver is starting for the Angels vs twins today, we miss him this week and he kills us. We also miss Saunders who is hard on the Sox.
We will get the tough Lackey,Santana and their 5th guy...could have been worse.

Too bad the tigers rallied to beat the Tribe last nite, but second nite in a row they went extras, with 15 more games in a row facing them..their bullpen could be tired soon. Pavano on the bump for the Tribe today...is 2-0 vs tigers this year...go Tribe.

When our fast guys are good like yesterday,Pods,Gordo,Getz,Nix..along with AJ's hot bat....we are tough.
I love speed on the paths again. We can be fun to watch on the paths for a change...nice.

That was most enjoyable to watch. It's not often the Sox pummel the Yankees.

Fun to see, and I hope they sweep them.

That Beckham kid is going to be something. You just know he's going to hit when he comes up. What a great pick, by whoever picked him.

looked like he was passing the torch.

I hope he wasn't teeling him how many outs there were.

I guess this just shows that anything can happen in baseball. The Yankees came in to the series as the hottest team in baseball, while the Sox were coming in 1-6 in their last 7. Naturally, the Sox have dominated the series so far. Baseball is a wierd, wierd game.

Red - I think we have been seeing it all year...good enough to win. Bad enough to lose. 90+/-5 wins. A playoff spot is possible. And from there, in a few post season serieses, who knows?

I will say this...there is no 4 man rotation we will see in the ALDS/ALCS that is clearly better than ours if Peavy is back healthy.

........

The Real 2009 White Sox? Who knows? Day to day.

So far, it's more like 85 +/- 5 wins IMO.

I think this team is toying with me. Every time they get me excited, they proceed to look really bad. Then when it looks like they only looked good vs. bad teams, they take 3 out of 4 vs. the AL's hottest team.

The Sox have been lucky so far that the Tigers (and Twins) haven't exactly looked like world beaters recently (except when playing the Sox:angry:). If they can stay within a game or two of first place when Peavy returns, I like our chances given our rotation of MB-Peavy-Danks-Floyd-Jose.

The Sox lineup looks good on paper, but then they faltered in key games vs. our division rivals. On paper, I already know that our entire lineup 1-9 could be pretty formidable. But I have yet to see them provide sustained success.

.....the pieces are there for this team to put on an impressive run as it heads toward the end of the season. But 4 months into the season, they're still hovering close to the .500 mark.

I may stating the obvious, but it would be fine for the Sox to win 75% of thier remaining games
