When does Kotsay join the team, anyone know?

We live in a world where bands like Margot and the Nuclear So and So's and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah find success. I don't even know what constitutes a good band name these days.

Possible cool band names...

The Perfect Buehrles
The Screaming FOBAs
Fat Juan's Planet Jammers
The White Sox Mind Control Rays of Distraction
Getz's Brain Fart
Ozzie's Doghouse
Bacon and the egg boyz

and finally

BA's Underpants

Well, SOMEONE'S not invited.

Dwight: W (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0933988/)ould I ever leave this company? Look, I'm all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I'm being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly, I'm going wherever they value loyalty the most.

I know we all hate the Twins, and maybe even some of their fans, but you can't tell me there weren't folks in attendance who appreciate baseball history.

I'm sure there were some jags in the crowd last night, but surely there were people that sincerely appreciate Buehrle's accomplishment(s).

I'm completely with you on all of this, especially number three. I never believed they were standing for Buehrle.

I recall the SO for the walk, a diminuition of noise, then the SO for MB, of longer duration than the SO for the walk. Hawk gave them credit. We should too. MB knew it which is why he acknoweleged it by tipping his cap.

He only cares about winning, and they lost. Why should he be happy? Also, after watching Pods and Getz making two of many mental errors the fielders have this season, I'm sure he's sick of it. I'm not saying the Sox win because of it. I will fully acknowledge Mark was out of gas in the seventh. However, if those plays are made, he still has the lead going into the 8th (assuming Morenau grounds out in the top of the 7th of course).

Not saying he should be happy, just that Mark rarely lets out what he's feeling inside. Him talking about the broken bat hits and infield chops in the newspaper today just was out of character for him.

He's clearly tired of the Metrodome.

But to me this is another indication of how bad that place has gotten into the Sox organization's heads.

I'm pretty mild mannered myself, but when a certain level is reached, it's hard to keep yourself reserved.

The last time I saw Mark mad is when he claimed Texas stadium was signalling what pitch is coming in 2005. What's interesting is that was his only loss there, and he's 11-3 lifetime against Texas... While Mark is 23-15 lifetime against the Twins, lately, most of the wins come at home, and he losses there.

Here's an idea. How about the Sox actually come out and actually hit the ball and field properly. They won't have to worry about the other stuff... **** happens to team that plays there. They hit the damn ball that Saturday night game, and they were able to overcome the other **** that happened in the late innings.

Remember when Mark beat up the dugout heater last season?

EPIC.

During a blowout in Minny, right? I bet the water cooler was jealous.

For what it's worth I was in contact with a person who is involved with major league baseball for his living to ask him about Chris Getz.

He replied that Getz should not be an everyday second baseman, that his best role is as a utility player starting one or two games a week tops.

Wow, you found a guy who "works in baseball" and his opinion matches yours and this is suddenly gospel.

Chicago, actually. I think Gomez hit for the cycle that night.

At this point I am dreading the Yankees and Red Sox series coming up. If things don't change, those series are going to be ug-ly.
Don't forget, we also have a series with the Halos next week too.

This was supposed to be a series we would win. I am sick of this team having chances to gain ground, but they don't. Detroit lost their first two in Texas. Why didn't our guys capitalize and move at least a game closer?

Hey, the guy may sell hot dogs, but he watches Getz's ABs every time he comes to the plate.

Double:

A touch cranky today aren't we?

Just passing along what was said... you can do with it what you will. I don't know if its gospel or not. Actually his comments were a tad more direct about his ability. I tried to tone it down since I knew some folks would take it the wrong way.

It's pretty clear though that the gamble to use Getz instead of someone else hasn't worked out so far especially defensively. It may change in the future but for right now it hasn't.

Kenny gambled here and so far it hasn't worked, that's reality.

I do agree with a poster who commented (don't remember where exactly) that Kenny deliberately did some of these things to find out one way or another, who can play and who can't so that his path this upcoming off season will be clear.

That thought makes a lot of sense to me. The outstanding question though is going to be will he be allowed to do what he wants to do. I don't know the answer to that one.

And if he uses what we've learned about our young players this season (coupled with management allowing payroll to increase) to go out and make some splashes to fill holes via trade or free agency than in my mind this season will have been worth it.

If the Sox decide to sit on what they have and think that the team will improve over time, it will have been a gigantic waste of giving playing time to the wrong people.

The Sox need a 3B, a CF and a fifth SP. We've tried to use young players to fill those gaps, it hasn't worked. Major changes need to be made this offseason. I'm sure (praying) that KW realizes this, lets hope he's given the green light to make the changes he wants.

I've thought that way since spring training started. The Sox had to make a decision on Fields, Getz, Anderson, and Owens. All 4 of those guys had to play in some capacity. They were all given chances and luckily Owens was let go early. Fields and Anderson had chances to prove themselves. Both started off decently but declined. Getz is serviceable, but he makes too many physical and mental errors. And for as much as Ramirez was touted as a natural SS he has not impressed me at all. This offseason will be very interesting, to say the least.

Who knows. He's more than a capable second baseman. I was a little surprised to say the least. He'll be fine, though.
