A lot less than I expected. Booze is always a good gift but this seems like one of those occasions that calls for quite a bit more.

Its the first gift. Burls is not cheap. He bought them a watches last year, and he admitted he has to top that this year.

Article also says hes getting wise a painting of his catch.

Great. He gave them alcohol? That explains the record since his perfect game.

I wouldn't scoff at a $140 dollar bottle of whiskey. Maybe that's just me.

Exactly, Crown Royal XR may be Wises' drink of choice.

Anderson must have been upset that he was sent down before the game...

$140 dollars for helping preserve a perfect game from a guy who makes 8 figures a year? Well, I wouldn't scoff but I'd be expecting much more to follow. Especially seeing how his no-no got his players Rollies.

Why should they expect anything? So they didn't make an error and it was a perfect game. With the exception of Wise's catch every play that afternoon was one that a major league ballplayer should make! I think Buehrle getting any kind of gift is a plus...

I think MB should get Wise a BMW or the like.
The rest of the team? Diamond cufflinks, Rolex - something like that.

Mark already set the precedent himself with the no-no gifts and it's pretty much tradition to give out gifts after no-nos, so it should especially be for pefectos.

I may be in the minority here, but Mark pitched the perfect game so shouldn't the team be buying him gifts???

Only on WSI would people complain about the gift a pitcher who threw a perfect game bought for his teammates.

And only on WSI would people complain about complainers while tossing in an eyeroll for good measure.

No, complaining about complainers happens on alot of message boards.

I'm pretty sure complaining about a gift a pitcher that threw a perfect game gave to his teammates has only happened on WSI in the history of the internet.

And just for good measure.....

Why should Mark buy anything for players doing the job they are paid well to do?

Because it's a pitchers achievement that took a team to accomplish. It is, after all, a team sport and you sink or sail with the other eight on the field with you.

Complaining and pointing out that you expected more are two different things.

I'm sure all of us could use those bottles of whiskey considering what always seems to go on in the House of Horrors.

Or as one of my friends says when it's been a long, long day with the kids - just get me hooked up to my vodka IV.
