View Full Version : What does Buehrle give to Wise as a gift?

Buehrle said he gave everyone on the team watches after his no-hitter in 2007. I'm sure he'll give everyone another gift like that, but what do you think he'll give Wise?
I was thinking he'll shoot a deer for Wise, since he loves hunting so much.

If you heard Laurence Holmes tonight, someone suggested that he take Wise to Chuck E. Cheese and then Dairy Queen. Holmes thought it was a good idea.

What? Flat screen TV? Stuffed elk?

He should get him a Mercedes.
It's happened 18 times in 129 years.
* And if I'm Mercedes I pay for half!

A personalized bobblehead, to be given away on Bobblehead night.

He can't give Wise a watch, because that's something he's given to the whole team previously. You'd have to give Wise something bigger than that. Which begs the question: On the scale of "professional gifts" what comes between a watch (like a Rolex or something) and a car? I tried thinking of this with my father and we couldn't come up with anything.

A watch?
No way. MB owes him something historic. Just like what Wise saved for him.

I'd like one of those portable DirecTV television sets that you can take with you on the road while tailgating or camping.

It would be nice to know what Wise is interested in. Then you could go with a complete high-end stereo, a motorcycle, an extremely expensive firearm, a vacation trip, something big bucks that is personal for him.

I like the idea of a vacation.

EXactly ... but I'd say motorcycle at a minimum.

Wise solidified Buerhle on the outfield wall ... if not a statue

Toe ring would be more appropriate

How about a device he can wear that slows down the pitch so that he can actually hit it. :redneck
(I'm sorry; I know we shouldn't be poking fun at him after that catch, but I couldn't resist.)
an extremely expensive firearm
Winner winner chicken dinner! I'm sure Mark can get his hands on a nice collectible/historic piece. If not unique, he can always get him a sweet SG 550 which is about as rare as it gets stateside (something I really hope to someday own myself).

You guys are goofy. This has only happened 18 times in history, and Wise had a huge hand in that. He'll be getting him something VERY expensive, like a high-end sports car. I'm talking minimum 100K gift.

I think the standard next gift up from the Rolex is the trip for the family to Hawaii or the Harley. Something in the 25K-40K range...

I didn't pay attention to what happened to it, but they should have saved that ball and Wise (or the MLB Hall of Fame) should get it.

For someone that spent over 10 years in the minors and may have only a few months left in the bigs. The only thing that makes sense is some long green.

A vacation for his family, a nice car, a boat (if Wise likes boating). I'm out of ideas.

He already gave Wise one of the best gifts of all.
Nationwide full blown attention for his catch.
Strong bet that will buy him a longer career in the bigs.
Some team will like to take a chance on a bench defensive replacement

A Rays player suggested a car. Boat sounds like a cool idea. He can call it the "Nice Catch" if its a fishing boat.

I can't imagine this.
In a "perfect" world, he's not a defensive replacement.

We all know Mark is a good, down to earth guy. He's also one of the best pitchers in the game today and is paid for it. D-Wise obviously has not enjoyed the success Mark has professionally or contractually. I really think Mark is going to do something special for him. I'm also thinking motorcyle or truck, etc. depending on Wise's hobbies/personality, etc.

Mark can get him a 2009 World Series ring. Short of that, an autographed photo of Brian Anderson.

You'd think that after saving a perfect game for him, the least that Buehrle could do for Wise is spell his first name right. :D:

Well you know character issues. That extra letter might break the bank on the statue.
