We need a name for this thing we have for turning young "nobodies" into Cy Young. It happens too often to not have a name for it. Any ideas?

Cy <Insert Rookie who has probably only pitched 5 innings above A Ball and Shuts out the Sox>

I dunno...The Joe Mays Factor? He was the original Cy Nobody. You could use it as a verb, although saying "we got Maysed tonight" doesn't have the greatest ring to it. I'm drawing a blank here.

I vote for 'getting rooked over', and the pitcher doing the deed is 'Cy Youngster'.

As Rod Serling might say...

"You lucky youngster...have now entered the SoxCyZone"

Sounds like acne cream. :whiner:

If "A" means Class A, it makes sense... Ascencio was a Class A pitcher last year.

Anyone want to bother to research what minor leaguers and washed up bench warmers we've made look like Pedro this year?

Besides Ascensio tonight there was also Thurman for the Yankmees, Bernero for the Kitties, Benoit from Texas. Fyhrie from the A's:whiner:

Asencio: This is in no way the same pitcher when we first saw him. After he got the starting role he has done well to say the least. In Anaheim he pitched 5 innings and gave up 1 hit, which was a home run. In Texas he gave up the same amount of hits as he gave up to us in 6 innings.
