Just saw it on SportsCenter. While one good team gets better, a bad team gets worse.

Who did they give up?

I didn't see who Boston gave up, but it's basically a nothing trade for the Pirates. A 29 year old career .269 hitter with some power, 25 and 85 for averages in the hr, rbi depts isn't spectacular. Plus, he was vocal about not wanting to be there anyway with all the white flag deals the Pirates have done.

Must be nice to have the depth, seeing that PIT is the new farm club for BOS.....

Was this the 3B Laroche or the 1B Laroche? It would make more sense for the Red Sox to acquire a Third Baseman because they have Kotsay already.

1B. I believe 3B would be his brother, Andy.

1B LaRoche, Adam, not Andy.

If it was Andy, it would have made headlines in the obit section...

Well, that doesn't make much sense to me. It seems like Red Sox fans are always scared that Lowell is going to get injured again, and I like Youkilis at 1B more than 3B...and they have Mark Kotsay.

Edit: Just realized that Andy Laroche is about seven years younger. Now I understand why the Pirates wouldn't even think about giving him up regardless of their trading practices.

Sucks for Andy, having your more experienced brother right there at first must've been pretty awesome. What can you do, I guess.
