Never could spell his name but they have signed him to a deal for the rest of the year.

Grudzielanek

Hes been out of baseball since last year and is 39. I don't know how easy it is or if he can get ready to play. I guess its worth a shot, nothing to lose.

Why? If anything, it should strike the fear of God into you. You know he's going to find some major way to **** us and not do well against everyone else.

The guy could get out of a wheelchair and spray line drives vs the Sox with that inside out flat swing of his. Not sure where he will play, but if he gets a chance to hit, he can hurt the sox.

That's what I'm thinking. Hawk gushes about this guy as much as he used to about Johan Santana. We're going to be hearing that for the rest of the year while he maintains a .600 average against the Sox.

Although "Grudsy" manages to find every hole against us, I view this signing as a good thing -- probably indicates that the Twins are no longer in the Freddy Sanchez Derby.

I just checked his splits and he's actually been better against the Tigers over his career.

Is this their plan B over Freddy Sanchez?

If so, great for us.

But maybe:

1) the price tag for Sanchez was too high
2) they might be saving their trading chips for a starting pitcher.

Let's hope not.

The Twins get a front of the rotation starter ..... I would not like our chances for this division.

Gruds is an interesting signing for the Twins. He doesn't really fit their style as he is more of an offensive player but kind've a butcher in the field if memory serves. Very rare for the Twins to sacrifice defense for offense. It would figure that they had to sign another Sox killer though. There is always the chance that Gruds might be washed up as well. As LoveYourSuit pointed out, I'm hoping this means they are out of the running for Freddy Sanchez.

Maybe this is our chance to witness someone old/slow playing for the Twins on the turf in the Dump Dome? One can hope...

I would ask why that would be bad for a Twin to play poorly against everyone else, but, uh, forget it.
