Who all saw someone whip out a big L banner right after the Cubs lost a game I think to the White Sox awhile back?

Instead of the Cubs gettin' to show off their big W banner someone mocked them with the big L banner.

I thought it was one of the funniest thangs I've ever seen at a ballpark:tongue:

You guys probably already had your laughs over this, but I don't get on the internet much anymore...just wondering...let me know please.

I just saw this once...is it a routine thang or what? Hope to see it continue:cool:

Cubbie clowns love to proudly wave that "w" flag when they happen to win a game on the road. What lovely guests. You wanna wave that "w" flag when your team wins? Fine then you should take no offense when your hosts wave an "L" flag when the Lovable Losers lose.

Hah thats our flag. My sister is in the front row holding it up. I unfortunately am hidden behind it :(:. We pulled it out for every Sox/cubs game in '08 my father though seems to have misplaced it so it didn't make a return appearance for '09. Hopefully we can bring it out next year . It's all in good fun though and most of the cubs fans around us got a good chuckle.

Many people don't realize that the L flag isn't just a mockery - the Cubs fly it over the CF scoreboard when they lose a home game. Even Cubs fans don't seem to know this!

They stopped doing that last year.

There was a shot of the L flag flying after the June 17 game on WGN, so I'm not sure the tradition has ended. I know they were talking about it last year.

I don't think they stopped...more like the flag was so tattered from frequent flying it was unusable :redneck

Here's the article from last year about the "ending" of the tradition. They didn't want to "shout out" a loss. But chest beating for a W is acceptable.

And here's an article from last month explaining the "rules" for flying the W flag.

IMO, if you celebrate the W with that tradition, be prepared for the walk of shame and fly the L as well.

Untrue. They did it at the game I was at on July 8, and I have the photos to prove it!

We had an "L" car flag we proudly waved in the parking lot after the Sunday win at The Cell, then flew it all the way home. We borrowed it - unsure if it's worth buying one for six games a year.
