Polanco just gets a two out hit vs Burnett in the 2nd to put the tigers up 2-1...this guy is a pest for everyone..even Burnett.

We could use some help from the Yanks in NYC vs the Tigers this weekend..time to gain some ground,Sox...vs Orioles...now!

Rangers finally get on the board against the Twins. They're still down 2-1. Really hoping they can get a win. I'd very much like some separation to develop between the Sox and the Twins..

The East is a beast. That is why I really like the fact that the White Sox have so many games left against the East. I am not getting high off the fact that we have been playing well recently, but I would rather the Sox make it by beating the tougher teams so they are prepared for the playoffs.

It actually amazes me how bad our division is. The Tigers would not be leading any other division in baseball with their record. I wonder if Kenny gets aggressive in the next 11 days and shores up some holes, or if we ust roll the dice that 86 wins takes it home (or more importantly this is an 86 win team, currently on pace to win 83-84, so we need to pick up a couple games).

I don't think our division is so bad. Rather, I think the entire AL - other than Cleveland and Oakland - is loaded. AL teams beat up on one another and expose each other's flaws for everyone to see. If the Royals, Mariners, Jays and Orioles were in the NL, they all would compete for playoff spots.

I saw the beginning and end of the game on Northern California Comcast and I have no complaints with the call. The Twins gave up a 10-run lead to a last place team. It isn't like they didn't deserve to lose.

Cuddyer was clearly safe. Horrible call. Worst loss ever. Season over. blah blah blah...

But I was scratching my head at that point. The Oakland closer (don't know, don't care) was dealing and struck out the first two batters in the ninth with wicked sliders, and it wasn't even close. He hung a ball, and Cuddyer ripped it for a double with Jason Kubel up.

I was sitting home thinking: "good, now put in a speedy pinch-runner for Cuddyer, Gomez is available!" ... But Gomez stayed on the bench. ... The A's intentionally walked Kubel and then Gardy used Gomez to pinch run, for Kubel. Now Cuddyer isn't slow, but he certainly isn't "fast" either. I guess I understand the reasoning, I'd rather have Gomez at first trying to score the go-ahead run from first base on a double compared to Kubel, but I really wanted the Twins playing for the tying run and I wanted Gomez at second base running for Cuddyer.

Gomez would have easily scored on that passed ball. Yeah, that is somewhat 20-20, you cannot predict a passed ball bouncing off the catchers knee pad and shooting into the corner, but man, I was irked.

That said, the 10 run lead wasn't lost by a crappy call at the plate. The 10 run lead was lost by a crappy bullpen getting hammered. :gulp:

That said, the 10 run lead wasn't lost by a crappy call at the plate. The 10 run lead was lost by a crappy bullpen getting hammered. :gulp:

I'm not sure it is a crappy bullpen. A decent bullpen can pitch crappy every now and then. This pen has a lockdown closer (Nathan) A strong L/R pair in Mijeres and Guerrier and an OK long man in Dickey. All pens struggle when overworked. The problem is their rotation isn't going deep into games. Then they have to pitch the back end of their pen which is far less dependable.

Wild pitch...Cuddyer tries to score from second. Slid in under the legs of the pitcher who was straddling slightly behind home plate instead of out in front of it. He was clearly out....to the hundreds of fans remaining in the park, all the players, 3 of the four uimpires, all the broadcasters, and anyone watching at home. Only the blind guy in the corner and the home plate umpire would have called him safe.

Wait, what? I think you got that a bit backwards. He was safe by a mile.

“Definitely Cuddy was safe, there’s no doubt about it,” Gardenhire said. “We just had a little bit of a bad call there. But we also shot ourselves in the foot enough out there pitching-wise, so it’s hard to say he blew it because we did enough blowing it ourselves.”

But, that series did not win them the division last year, so the razzing couldn't have been TOO long.

It wasn't TOO long, but it was TOO much. I play football and every member of the team gave me some text making fun of the Sox and/or me. I saved all the numbers I didn't know as "Bitch 1-8" (8 numbers I didn't know texted me). I turned out to be right in saving their numbers and texted them after 163. But after that sweep I felt like dying anyways then I get 10 text messages. **** the Twins.

:gulp:

In that Sox game, the game would have been over. Sox Win! Sox Win! etc. Last night, the Twins would have tied the A's on the road and probably wouldn't have brought Nathan in because the score likely would have been tied in the bottom of the ninth on the road. Going deep into extra innings against the Rangers Sunday night, no doubt, hurt Monday night. The call against the Sox took away a win. The call against the Twins had the potential of taking away a win.

Come on A's, burn through that bullpen!

I turned off the Twins-A's game in the third inning (I think it was the third) with the score 11-2 n favor of the Twins, turned it on two hours later and saw the A's had a 14-13 lead. That was the biggest comeback in Athletics franchise history. I'm sure the A's aren't taking the big lead for granted. One record comeback in a three game series is plenty for the A's at this point.

The A's are not a good team, but you don't have to be a good team to win games against good teams. It is odd, though, that they lost Sunday 1-0 in 10 innings, won 14-13 on Monday with the game ending on an A's wild pitch and lost 3-2 on Tuesday -- with their all-star closer losing Sunday and Tuesday. Here they are with an 11-run lead in the fifth and are threatening for more. Make that a 13-run lead. No, make that a 14-run lead.

I really hate the A's. But I really hate the Twins more.

Last night's game was a game they should have lost, and today's game was probably a game they should have lost. Cahill is a better pitcher than Perkins.

No matter what the score of today's game ends up (assuming the Twins don't make a record comeback), Monday's loss will probably go down as their worse loss of the season. Now that was a game they should have won.

The Twins can take pride in the fact that they only allowed 16 runs to the A's two days after they allowed 14 runs to the A's in a one-run loss (having had a 10-run lead in the game).

Some people must be sorry the A's didn't score 19, which they would have done if Ryan Sweeney had hit a home run instead of striking out. I'm only sorry that Sweeney struck out because it was the first strikeout by an A's batter today.

Monday night, the A's had 22 hits and didn't strike out, which I found almost as incredible as the comeback. Today the A's had 18 hits, and no one struck out until the last A's batter of the day.

The Twins pitchers were getting slapped around hard in two games in this series. And this is the A's who have some guys who strike out a lot.

So, let me get this straight...

The Twins are currently 1-4 on this West Coast road swing.
They come home to play us and then the on-fire Halos once again.
They don't have a necessarily tough August, but they DO have seven games against the scary Texas Rangers.
They have a ton of road games waiting for them in September, including a four-game series in the AL Central's "House of Horrors" (Toronto)
They close out the season with a single series at home against Kansas City, much like last season. As we learned last season, that doesn't necessarily equate to a cake walk.

Translation: Yes, they don't have to face the Beasts of the East anymore; but, their schedule is far from one that would guarantee the divisional crown.

And they blew through the bullpen, too. Yesss.

9 innings, with Lyon racking up 3 and Rodney 2. :D:

As others have mentioned, good day to be a Sox fan.

I love when the Tigers and Twins lose. I love it even more because of how much the Tigers used their bullpen.

Sleep well, Sox fans, for the Kittens and Geminis were vanquished, and the Pale Hose were victorious tonight!

You certainly wouldn't have gotten that impression from reading some of the posters here!:redneck

Wow, ultra-bad for KC.

They had a 9-game homestand coming out of the All-Star break and lost 8 of them (albeit it was LAA, TB, and Tex, but still).

The season's really caught up with them:
April - 12-10
May - 11-17
June - 10-16
July - 7-19

On May 7, they were 18-11. Then they made a 5-game trip to the West Coast (3 at LAA, 2 at Oak) and lost all 5. Including that trip, from May 8 on, they're 22-51.

Ouch.

It seems to me, mind you I'm not looking at records at the moment other than what you've posted, but it seems like this good April is the norm the last several years for the Royals.

2008 12-15
2007 8-18
2006 5-17
2005 6-18
2004 7-14
2003 17-7

Must be perception, because reality is something different. 2003 was the last year they finished over .500, and the only year in the last 15 that they finished over .500 (they were 64-51 in 1994 when the strike happened).

Yeah, I thought that too, maybe they start off 1-0 frequently and it makes them seem good.

Wow, ultra-bad for KC.

KC is bad. They had a good start - and they have a few good players, but this is a bad club.
