It won't be over 100 degrees at Busch Stadium tonight, as was the case for the 1966 All Star Game.

The AL looks to make history tonight. If they win, their "unbeaten" streak will be at 12 games, which will break the tie that they have with the NL. The Senior Circuit took 11 games in a row from the AL from 1972-1982.

I dunno. After the closeness of last year's game...I have this sneaking suspicion that this won't be easy. The AL may even lose. I saw someone post this on the site, and I agree with it 100%: Who do I think will win? Flip a coin.

Flipped over to MLB Network, they had some stupid 'Red Carpet' program, which I don't think was even live.

That was cool to see. Also, it was funny to see him ribbing a bit on Albert Pujols about losing the HR Derby in his own park.

Nice little round of cheers for Mark there...

I agree, in fact I would probably predict the NL to win, because I think the fan vote results gave them a better overall team.

I enjoyed Buehrle's ovation and Lilly getting booed :D:

There was a St. Louis fan on here sometime last season being self-righteous about the fact the St. Louis fans don't boo players, even Manny for quitting on his team. I'm sure that was just another example of that.

The National League starting lineup is quicker than that of the American League. I think this is the best chance for the NL to come out on top in a long time.

AP probably already has photos up. Newspapers in the East need art for sports, and the some have early deadlines. You would expect Chicago area newspapers to run an Obama picture becasue he's in a Sox jacket. Some newspapers run pictures of the president in that situation because he's the president.

The All-Star starter is not allowed to go more than three innings. That rule came about after Lefty Grove or Lefty Gomez (I'm pretty sure it was some southpaw) started and went six innings. One inning is good enough for a win.

Dean Stone got an All-Star game win without throwing a pitch, but he wasn't a starter.

In the 1970s, starters used to go three. The next pitcher usually went two. If pitchers (typically AL pitchers -- the NL used to win every year back then) got into trouble, they might come out, of course. There were years in the 1970s and '80s that Whtie sox pitchers didn't get in the game because they were being held back for possible extra innings.

Greinke might stay in for a second inning, but Buehrle pitched on Sunday. Be happy that he pitched a scoreless inning. If Halliday had only pitched one inning, the AL might be winning.
