As for the pitching matchups...it looks like the first two games are toss-ups and Sunday is stacked in our favor.

Sox sweep. Danks is rolling of late, Floyd is a Twin killer, and Buehrle is Buehrle.

Sox will have the lead after 5 innings in every game but lose 2 of 3.

The Ghost of Denard Span will go 8-for-12 in the series, and Carlos Gomez will continue his trend of sucking against every team but the White Sox en route to taking 2 out of 3 from the Sox, their first losing series in over a month.

You know, for once, I want the Sox to go into the Metrodump with the attitude, let's kick their ass. Not this, oh, we are afraid to play here/mentally weak attitide. The Sox had a winning record there in the Ozzie regime prior to last season. IT's not like they can't win there.

So it is Perkins pitching the second game? I heard it was TBA during the game today... I'm going to be there, and I wouldn't be too disappointed in seeing R.A. Dickey out there :redneck

The Sox are a good road team this year, and they're on a roll. There's no reason for them not to go into that dump with all confidence.

It would be so fitting for our last game there to be lost due to a hole appearing somewhere on the field that the ball would fall into and score the winning run for the Twins in the bottom of the 9th.

I bet the number of crazy things that have gone on in the Dump Dome could rival the length of the list of Hawkisms.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Thome will hit an inside-the-park homer in the Dump Dome this weekend.

The Dump Dome is probably the only place in baseball where such a feat would be possible.

I think I'm actually being optimistic by saying the Twins take 2 of 3 instead of sweep the Sox.

I know the Sox have looked pretty good of late, but come on, this is the H.H.H Metrodome we're talking about here.

I expect Ozzie's beloved Piranhas to make us pay dearly for our errors and issued walks. But even if the Sox play good fundamental baseball, there's always the following to doom us in that hellhole:

Bloop hits by the Twins to open up their offensive flood gates.
Sox line shots that are all right at a Twins fielder
Some stupid astroturf chop game winning hit by the Twins
Some other goofy play like a hit off the pitcher's foot or a funny hop that goes in the Twins favor or some other ridiculous thing that I can't even imagine.
....and don't even get me started on the Dome's blowers. :redneck

3 more painful series in that place. I can't wait until the Sox last game there is over.

Once again, the Sox had a winning record a the Dump dome in the Ozzie regime prior to last season's 1-8 showing. Most of those losses were to Johan Santana. They can win there. I hate the place as much as the next guy, but I'm sick of tired of this afraid attitude every time they play there. I want the attitude, we are going to kick their ass, and they are going to like it.

Two lefty starters are one advantage. Kubel usually sits when a lefty starts. He's having a good year, and usually kills the Sox. That's a plus. Mark has beaten the Twins 22 times in his career, Danks is pitching well, and Floyd was the only pitcher to win last year in the dump.

I like the way this series sets up. Twins are coming off being swept in their own house so they cannot be feeling great.

We have two lefties that can control their running game and their lefty bats..hopefully.

Floyd has pitched well vs the twins.

When was the last time the Sox came into a mid season series with the Twins outstealing them significantly like this year? I think we have our own pirahnas in Pods,Alexei,Nix,Getz, Wise and Beckham. We can actually run a bit, altho Mauer is tough...but Blackburn is slow to the plate, right?

We have already pounded Baker this year.
Blackburn is tough...and the key to the series is beating him...if we do, I say sweep. Otherwise...2 of 3....please:wink:

thedudeabides
07-10-2009, 11:56 AM
It's time for Pods to bring back his half swing/bunt and pound the ball off the turf in this dump. I'd also like to see Getz get 5 bloop hits, two hitting the chalk for doubles. I say the Sox run blind on Blackburn for 5 stolen bases. And AJ needs to reek havock with risp.

It's time to out Twins the Twins in this hell hole. Nothing would be better going into the break than taking this series in Minnesota.

I predict a Twins sweep. The Sox have played only NL teams, the struggling Royals and the struggling Indians for an entire month. That soft part of the schedule is ovah.

Starting today it's back to reality for the Sox. It's time for them to show us if their hot streak of the last month is for real or just them fattening up on bad teams.

Bad things happen in the dome. Unlike our competition of the last month, the Twins will not let the Sox off the hook for errors and walks.....and even if the Sox cinch it up and play solid fundamental baseball I'm sure they'll be some goofy freak play that goes the Twins way to turn the game around for them. I've seen it too many times over the years to be fooled anymore. I'm just going to hold my nose as the Sox play their last 9 games in the CrapDome. I think the Sox will fare much better next year visiting Target Field.

If they come out of the Dome this weekend with one win, I'll be relieved. If they take 2 or all 3 games, I'll be thrilled.
