Kind of surprising but he's been terrible this year.

Coop can fix him :redneck

He is still going to be on their payroll for 2010. Riccardi has really made some questionable deals.

Moneyball guys have made some horrendous FA signings: Kendall (took on a big contract, actually), Ryan, Wood.

Good luck to Ryan - he went to college in my home town and I hope he can resume his career.

Anyone know what he is owed through 2010? If anyone picks him up, do the Jays still pay the salary?

Only if "questionable" = "BAD".

He's tied to $20+ a year for 5 years for Vernon Wells and $14mm+ per for 5 for Rios. He just ate $15mm on Ryan. I have no idea how he still holds onto his job.

The Jays pay his salary, less whatever the other team pays him - which is usually the league minimum.

lol

I'm sure he knows a lot more than I do about the game - he just has had a very low success rate in spending the Jays money.

I'm sure a team out there will have a "Coop'll fix him" attitude and sign him for the minimum.

He spiraled down really fast. I'd take him for nothing, but he didn't have great stuff before the injury.

Agreed on Ricciardi, but what's green?

Canadian $, apparently.

The $ they are on the hook for through 2014 (I think) for Wells and Rios is staggering.

I remember when the Jays signed him, most people in Baltimore ripped the move because the thought was that he was a fragile, high-risk pitcher even then. I'm just glad the Sox don't have a GM who spends money like a drunken sailor.

He was just cut by the Flubs

He was just cut by the Flubs

He actually asked for a release. Which I guess is the same as quitting?

My guess is that he either wants to take some time off or realized he had no chance of getting back to the Majors with them. Who knows, maybe he's going to hang it up for a while or for good.
