This passes for news?

Really?

Seriously! I think all someone has to do is contact a Chicago media outlet and say they have some stupid-ass Cubs-related stunt and they're a cinch to make the news.

Here's my question: This guy has been a Cubs fans since age 6 according to this article: http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/1646713,CST-NWS-cubsdiet01.article

Uh, hasn't this guy noticed that his team has been a bunch of losers all this life? Why now decide on this joke "hunger strike" until his team wins 5 in a row? He spent his 5 decades in Cubdom following perpetual losers. He should be used to it by now.

Unbeleivable that straight-up garbage such as a phony, half hearted, 500 calorie a day "Hunger Strike" can not only make the newspaper, but on page 5?????

Good grief, no wonder the Sun Times is dying.

500 Calories a day should be enough to cause a stroke if he keeps it up for too long...what a tool.

07-02-2009, 11:50 AM
Yeah - a team staffed with attention whores will be motivated by an attention whore fan to win more games.

Count me in the "who gives a ****" fan club on this one.

The worst part is it's a UPI link. I'm so glad everything else in the world is up to par that this is real news.

As I posted in the reader's comments section of that newsworthy story, if the mope was a Sox fan, he'd already be eating well again! Instead, I expect to see him shed a few pounds. In fact, I hope the Cubs win four in a row and then blow one in extra innings just so he's gotta start over, just as he's eyeing that cheeseburger.

Right now the Flubs have a two game winning streak. What if they take the next three? This goofball's "hunger strike" is scheduled to being after the ASB. Will it still be on?

By the way, if he was a true Cub fan, he would start his strike now, sacrifice all that great 4th of July BBQ food!

If I announced that I would do something foolish in honor of any other sports team in this city, would it get picked up by the news like Cubs fluff usually does? Here are some ideas:

"I will run on a treadmill for 3 hours a day until Patrick Kane scores back to back hat tricks"

"I will eat nothing but Reese's Peanut Butter Cups for all my meals until Derrick Rose scores 60 pts in a game"

"I won't wear pants to work until Carlos Quentin hits for the cycle!"

"I will lay my body in front of heavy construction equipment until Jay Cutler brings 'Da Bearssss' a Super Bowl!"

Now, I'll just sit back and wait for the media to contact me so I can be a gigantic media attention whore and show everyone what a great fan I am!

The flaw in your plan is that you want things to happen which are highly likely to occur.
