View Full Version : One More 2005 Sox Player for the Stretch?

Maybe this is what's the score material.

I'm not trying to make anyone puke, but I had a funny thought. Kenny has brought back a lot of 2005 players... but I kinda think one more makes a lot of sense.

Some people are saying that if Quentin comes back Josh Fields might go to the minors to see pitching everyday. If Quentin does come back, you already boosted the offense. Why not get some insurance at the deadline instead of a bat?

Juan Uribe in my opinion would make a great 2Bman, and it looks like he's playing some in San Francisco this season.

I like Getz a ton... but at the deadline would you take Uribe? He's a super sub at this point. Defensive 3Bman, and veteran backup for 2B 3B and SS. Down the stretch, he'd be super valuable. 1 million dollar salary.

So? I made my case... Poll above.

Yes, but not for Dye if that's what they're scouting him for.

Uribe's having a great season for a Giants team that is surprisingly in the run for the NL Wild Card. I don't see them dealing pieces away.

Same here.

And even if we were to trade for him I don't think he necessarily takes Getz's starting role. If anything he comes in and takes a utility infield position as he is able to play 3B, SS, and 2B. Personally, I would rather see him playing 3B in a critical late game situation then Bacon right now.

Will you say that in August when he's hitting .300?

Didn't we already sign Freddy Garcia? What happened to him? Haven't seen him on the Charlotte roster yet.

Now that you mention it...It WOULD be great to get back Aaron Rowand.

They need to leave him right where he is for ANY situation.

We need an outfielder, not Uribe.
Mercy!

We need an infielder too! Alexei is not cutting it, and Fields can't be given it full-time!

How bout we trade Jenks and Thornton and then have Shingo closing with Hermanson setting up.

I think they are still trying to build up his arm strength.

Uribe will not make us a contender. We need a starter first, and a high contact 2b second

Did not you White Sox fans want Uribe run out of town last season? Now you want him back?

No, I would say most of us agreed with KW that it was not worth $4 million to keep him as a utility player. Despite his success this year in the NL, his bat precludes him from being an everyday player in the AL.

This appies to Uribe as well, unless he feels like playing 2nd.

Ozzie has already adamantly said he's sticking with TCM at SS and he would be foolish to take Bacon out at 3B with him appearing to get into his groove. If this team can show some sense of consistency, they're poised to make an AL Central run as-is.

Don't let the few angry, frustrated posters influence you.

He is in Arizone for "extended spring training".

Besides the fact we had a dominant starting staff, that would sort of be like the '83 team that was .500 after about 70 games. We then traded Tony Bernazard for Julio Cruz and the team went on a terror the rest of the season.

I read that Garcia is making very slow progress - which probably means almost no progress.
