Couldn't be happier for the guy. You can practically see a big weight lifted off his shoulders. :gulp:

I was reading Garfien's blog last year and he talked about how hard Contreras was working to get back (this was the DL trip before the Achilles injury). He said Jose was one of the nicest guys on the team. He talked about how Jose absolutely lit up when he talked about getting back and playing. He said Jose looked years younger when he talked about being healthy and pitching again. Since then I've rooted hard for him to succeed. You go, Jose.

Here's to him keeping it up Thursday against the Cubs!

Great for Jose. He worked hard and earned it...many if not most vets in a similar situation would sulk at the demotion.

Let's shoot for Player of the Month now!

Well deserved as he's been bad ass. Vintage Jose making batters look foolish with that nasty forkball. Now, just keep it going for a second half run at this division.

I'm extremely happy for Jose. I hope he can keep it up, for his sake and for the Sox'.

He's always been a class act. Also, he asked to be sent down. He figured he'd do better working on his problems in Charlotte rather than the bullpen. Congrats Jose. Glad to see you come back with both guns blazing.

I will never question the guy's work ethic and heart. I love him for that.

Never count Jose out. Neither a raft from Cuba or the NY media could keep him down, so why would a ruptured achilles and a couple of rough starts.

I don't think you trade the guy just yet. We still have 6 weeks before the trade deadline, so Jose could get about 8 more starts. KW is always working the phones, so if we are not any closer in a month, I am sure he will move him, which I agree with. It's a risk not "selling high" but none of us know what is actually being offered for him.

I've moved the posts talking about trade options to Voodoo's What's your plan? (http://www.whitesoxinteractive.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=112627) thread. This thread should be all about Jose and his winning the AL Player of the week for the first time in his career. Let's celebrate that here and talk trade elsewhere.

Well, that explains how I began posting in one thread and it ended up in another by the time I got through typing!:D:

Congrats to Jose after two excellent pitching outings and the AL Player of the Week honors.

I hope "Old School" Jose hangs around a bit longer. :D:

Congrats Jose! I know expecting him to keep having scoreless outings is unrealistic, but let's hope he continues to be as effective as he has been.

The way he's pitched his last two outings, he's most deserving! Congrats to the fossil of the pitching staff.

I'm here to eat crow. I thought Jose was done when he injured his Achilles. I thought he was done when he started the season 0-5.

I'd like to salute him for paying the price and coming all the way back. A majority of professional athletes today would never have considered being demoted to the minors much less suggest it.

Jose, best wishes for continued success this season.

He deserves it! Congrats to Jose. Who thought he would do so well after his bad injury and then getting sent down to triple A?? :?:

He found something down there. His fastball looks much crisper, he's getting the curve over where it seemed like he couldn't find the plate with a compass with that thing, and he's getting in front of hitters which sets up the forkball well.

Maybe he needed the mental demotion to get his head screwed on straight.

I thought he asked for the demotion?

Well, since I went to both of his starts this week, maybe I'm his good luck charm, but I hope not because I won't be at his next start!
