Call of the year for Hawk: Burl's dinger.

Pic of the year: the shocked looks on the faces in the Sox dugout as Burls did his trot.

Most nervous former Sox player: Big Hurt. His team home run record is now at risk thanks to Burl's power surge.

Get used to it, we have a .500 ball club in a division that will not take much more than that to win.

That's it.

Going into the series, I thought we'd win it. After we coughed one up on Friday, I didn't.
Two things I really like about Guillen - losses and bad games don't linger with Ozzie managed teams. In contrast to the majority view, I do think he handles the bullpen well.

Hawk blasts Black Jack

Burl's hits a homer.

Beckham comes through with a rocket.

Thome tries to bunt...twice.

Richard PR and scores.

AJ swings 3-0 and gets the game winning single against a Pitcher who hasn't giving up a run all year.

Fields' slider speed bat can't find a hanging change up.

Hawk says "Hell yeah"

With today's win, the Sox are now 4-2 against the NL. I think they go 4-2 against the Cubs, 2-1 against the Reds, and 1-2 against the Dodgers. If so, they would go 11-7 against the NL.

Strange series but it was nice to see an actual clutch hit with RISP for a change.

Congrats to Mark on his home run. First by a Sox pitcher since Garland at Cincinnati in 2006 if memory serves.

Bizarre that the Sox see to hit so much better on the road than at U.S. Cellular Field.

I think Hawk still has the Phil Garner kerfuffle ''filed'' and that prompted the extra ''hell yes''.

Hawk really was pissed at Blackjack for his mildly critical blog on Ozzie's handling of Beckham. Hawk clearly feels like in the family criticism should be private, and Jack was a bit disloyal in his comments,as well as just wrong. I agree, but do not care if Jack spouts off.

A few heroes in this one..MB goes deep!!! Hit a bit better than he pitched but he kept us in there..
Speaking of Gordon....sweet inside out swing there young man!!
Pods...again. I love having a good lead off man again.
AJ..very hot just in time to go to Wrigley and face Big Z,Dempster and Wells...as our best lefty bat,he must continue to haunt the cubs if the sox are going to do well this week.
Getz also...hanging in there Chris..nice job.

This is absolutely not a great baseball team. But it is nowhere close to as bad as some people appear to believe it is.

The Sox are not as bad as some people think. Add a healthy Quentin, Dye and Contreras and give Beckham, Getz and Poreda time to acclimate to the big leagues and the Sox will be fine. The Sox seemingly rushed Contreras at the start of the season. The last 2 starts, though, show what a healthy Contreras can do. Beckham's double today was great, too. As Beckham continues to shoot the ball toward right field with authority, his bat will be a force.

By the way, are there any reports on when Quentin comes off the DL?

This was a good series for the Sox. It was surprising to get the win with Dye and Thome on the bench, and Thome had a great at bat in the ninth. I loved that he tried to bunt.
Buehrle will remember his home run for the rest of his life, it's something that all of us Sox fans can be happy for him for.

I'm surprised they threw Pierzynski a strike with Fields on deck. It was a pretty obvious call to give AJ the 3-0 green light, and he delivered. I think AJ likes those moments where half the crowd is cheering for him and half the crowd is booing him.

That's a real nice series win right there, especially with the depleted lineup the Sox are featuring right now.

It seems that when they're home, they're looking to go for the fences more. They seem to get away from that more when they're on the road.

This game wouldn't have been won had it not been for the absolute BRILLIANT diving catch by BA.

I couldn't believe Macha didn't just put AJ on in that situation. He must have really not wanted to load the bases because a smart pitcher like Hoffman can get a rookie guy with a hitch in his swing like Fields out without breaking a sweat. Nice decision to give him the 3-0 green light. I was at both games Saturday and Sunday and they were both a lot of fun. Nice to win a series for a change and not see corpse ball.

First, great win. Thank you AJ, for being clutch, and to Pods, for continuing to do what you're paid to do.

Now, the next time the Sox play in an NL park (no Thome), with TCQ injured, a day off tomorrow, AND NO JD in the lineup with Dewayne ****ing Wise hitting in the FIFTH HOLE, Ozzie should be fired on the spot and thrown out of baseball. Wise has now proven himself to be TOTALLY worthless. You try to bunt twice - once you pop out, and the other you simply fail to do your job and fly out to center on a pitch 6 inches above the dirt. How the hell did he get under that pitch? He should never see the field again. Even PRing is too good for him. Call up someone else who has even a hint of talent.
