Well they aren't exactly new, but newer. Many of you already know about them, but we felt we wanted to make a formal announcement to show our support for Lip and for Black Jack. Tough enough making money in news media these days, so we encourage all of you to check them out and show some support for an ex-Sox pitcher and long-standing member and contributor to WSI...

Mark Liptak's blog - White Sox Confidential: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-white-sox-confidential/

Black Jack's Blog - Black Jack on the White Sox: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/black-jack-white-sox/

It is our hope that this also represents a turning point in our relationship with sport's websites run by the Tribune. Jimmy Greenfield who runs the Chicago Now group of blogs was very courteous and has said that links to WSI on the blogs listed above will not be removed. Please don't spam their site, but if you want to link to a discussion thread or an article that deals with a given topic here at WSI, you can when replying to a post at the aforementioned blogs.

Good luck Mark and Jack. WSI salutes anyone who chooses to write about the Sox...

:gulp:

Thanks for your kind words.

I knew that Jimmy was trying to work something out but I'm not actively involved in those decisions.

I simply gave him more information about WSI and hoped that the two sides could reach an understanding.

I'm glad something was worked out that's good for both sides!

I'll still be posting and doing columns / interviews for WSI. In fact my latest interview, with a former Sox player of the early 1960's is already in the hands of George Bova. I'm sure he'll release it at the appropriate time.

Regarding Jack, he's certainly one of the most in tune athletes I've ever know regarding today's technology. He seems to use and understanding everything and he's really good about answering fan questions and telling stories from his days with the Sox.

In case some of you missed it, here's my interview with him...one of the best in my opinion, I've ever done:

Anyway, thanks again!

Lip,

From one media member to another, best of luck to both you and Jack with this endeavor. Rest assured, your remarks on the team - as well as Jack's - will be a part of my daily Web reading.

If you guys get to a point where you're making good money from this, drop me a line and let me know how it's done. I could use the career boost.

JB:

To be honest I don't know if I'll make a dime but that's OK, that's not why I'm doing this.

Like I told Jimmy Greenfield I'm not in it for the money because there probably isn't a lot to be had in the first place. I'm doing it because I love the White Sox and am flattered that the Tribune thought enough of my contributions elsewhere to ask in the first place.

Lip, I assure you that you will make a dime. Anything more than that I can't guarantee.

Jack's answering reader questions on his blog (http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/black-jack-white-sox/2009/06/ask-black-jack-why-cant-the-white-sox-hit-rookie-pitchers.html) so please feel free to pose him a question about the current White Sox, past White Sox teams, overall baseball questions or (and this might be his favorite topic) music.

We're very excited to have the support of WSI and I promise you the feeling is mutual.

Cheers,
Jimmy Greenfield
