Not a total shock. They need to open a spot for Tommy Hanson.

Let the Tommy Hansen era begin.

He's starting on Saturday. (http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/braves/stories/2009/06/03/tommy_hanson_braves.html)

Stating the obvious, but what an incredible career that guy had. Unlike Sosa, he CAN sit around and wait for his first-ballot HOF induction.

True.

But the story in today's NYT said that the Braves asked Glavine if he wanted to announce his retirement; he said no, he wanted his release. Might mean that he intends to try to catch on with another team. ???

If I was Glavine that would piss me off and drive me to sign somewhere with an NL playoff team, preferably NYM or Philly, as the main targets.
