Well, it's looking like Beckham will be here soon if Fields doesn't start hitting.

What's your guess on his arrival date?

I'm going with June 12th.

Maybe, I should make this a poll question.

Fields has been hitting. He just broke a 7 game hitting streak last night. He's not hitting because his average did not magically hop up to .300 or what?

I don't think Gordon is a human being. I was looking over his statistics and they are shocking.

He went from double A mashing to triple A destroying like it was nothing. If this kid is not a farce, he could be a monster for years to come. I am happy that he will play in a White Sox uniform.

Depends. If Fields turns it around, Beckham probably won't be up until September. If he tanks another few weeks, and Beckham is still hot at AAA and fielding pretty good, we could see him before the break. If I had to guess right now...September 1.

I went with August. I think he'll make it up before September call-ups. Interesting that Early July leads in early results. At that point, I'd think they'd just wait til after the break.

I don't think it will happen, but I'm rooting for June 14 as that will be the first Sox game I've been to in a loooooooong time. The fact that it is a Sunday game scares me a bit...:o:

Agreed. There is no point in rushing him up here.

RiskAgreed. Although it wouldn't surprise me to see him up sooner if we struggle mightily at second or third.

April 20, 2010, White Sox vs. Blue Jays. Beckham goes 0-for-2 but reaches base on a throwing error by White Sox starting pitcher Roy Halladay.

I know I could definitely be in the wrong, but Beckham, could be one of those rare special players, that could be ready to move up to MLB early. It wouldn't suprise me at all to see the Sox move him up sometime this season. Fields swing looks terrible. He needs to shorten it up ALOT. I could be wrong, but Beckham could be one of those special players for our ballclub that don't come around too often. He may be end up being our Longoria.

Beckham could be the rare player who is able to play everyday at the MLB level so soon after his amateur career, but history very strongly indicates that almost every single player needs to get his reps in at the minor league level. Hell, even Longoria spent one full year with the Rays' minor league team (drafted in 2006, debuted April 12, 2008).

I'm glad Gordon has looked so good so fast, but I'm still very apprehensive about bringing him up in 2009.

I agree to a certain extent. Since college, he has tore up the AFL, did pretty well in A basll last year, did well at AA, and is tearing up AAA(although it is only 5 games). I think you can not ignore the success he has had/having. But, I do agree about the rushing part, if he is ready why hold him back?

I say September.Let him get some AB's in Triple A.
Beckham has the tools to be a great player, but let's
remember that he's a human being.He's not a savior.
Don't bring him up too fast.If he gets overwhelmed by major
league pitching,it might ruin his confidence.

I guess it depends on what your definitions of rushing and holding back are.

Making a guy play 1 full year in the minors, IMO, is not holding him back, regardless of how he is performing.

Maybe Beckham is the kind of a guy who can make the jump straight to the Majors now and keep producing, but the numbers are staggeringly not in his favor. I don't think there are any likely detrimental consequences holding him back for this year, especially when compared to the potentially damaging affects you risk pushing a guy too fast.

Hopefully he gets called up June 28th against the Cubs, and hits a walk-off as the Sox sweep them!!!

Can we wait a few weeks before we declare that he's dominating in AAA? He's played 5 games there! After 5 games this season, Emilio Bonifacio was the NL MVP.

And I'd like to see him work on his defense before we call him up. Actually settling him in at a position instead of moving him around whenever a player on the big league club goes into a slump might help too.

I voted early July, but I didn't look up the date of the ASG. I think he'll be called up at the break.

Tonight would've been nice. Certainly better than Betemit and probably better than Fields.

I'm not suggesting that the Sox bring him up right now however I sense that the Sox are very unhappy with Fields and unfortunately Betemit as well.

Kenny might make a deal for a 3rd baseman but if he doesn't and Beckham is here and looking good I think they'll take the chance and bring him up soon.

I said September, but I'd rather not see him this year. Fields really needs to hit for more extra bases, or he's in trouble.

I see it in either August or September; however, it could happen earlier if there are injuries to deal with. You never know what is going to happen on that front. He's done nothing but proven to me he's one heck of a ballplayer, but I don't want to call him up only to have him sit the bench. If he can contribute in a high capacity, I want him to get as many AB's and innings as possible.

I said September. I'm changing it to the All Star break. He's ready offensively now. I'd give him some more time at 3B to get used to it, and then he should be ready to go on July 17 vs Baltimore.

Watching Ozzie all these years, he will play Gordon either today or tomorrow. He's a baptism by fire kind of guy. I'm hoping for Friday night with the tix I was given. Come on Ozzie, make it special.
