Just curious. Assuming that Cleveland continues to tank and the team decides on a fire sale or something and Cliff Lee was available, would you part with say...Richard and/or Poreda for him?

Cleveland would never trade him within the division.

Yep. Close thread.

Wouldn't the reverse of this also be true? I don't think the Sox would want to send Richard and Poreda to a divisional rival either.

Agreed.

I think it's more of the Sox not wanting to do the deal.

The Indians care less who they trade with as long as they get a load back for him.

If they can get him for just those two, I'll carry his luggage.

Lee had an outstanding year last year, but I'm not sold on him at all for the long haul. He has been inconsistant over his career and this year as well.

He has to be frustrated having a 2-6 record with a 3.16 ERA. He's spent his whole MLB career in Cleveland, but he might be seeing that he needs to go elsewhere to have an immediate shot going far into the postseason. He's a lefty and going to be 31 this year. Something tells me he has a few seasons left in that arm; however, you have to look at what you're getting in him now vs what you will get out of the players you will trade for him. He's very affordable for what he produces on the mound. He would only cost us a couple million the remainder of this year, and his option (with winning the Cy Young) would be $9 million-pretty cheap for his credentials.

Outside of Kansas City, have we ever dealt within the division? Not that I can remember.
