the return of Big Game Gavin! that is three nice starts for him (just have to get Danks back up to form) I think Gavin had around 8 K's today----sweet one on O Cab I know O Cab got some big runs and hits for us last season, but he is sort of a jag bag

Third impressive outing in a row from Gavin.

I have said it a million times, but I just watching Thornton effortlessly blow people away.

I will take a White Sox winner from Thome every 50 home runs.

Crazy thing is that this team is still not clicking 100%.

Great, feel good win after the road trip, but I was hoping we'd get to Cahill. It is slightly disturbing that this offense can be shut down like that by an inexperienced pitcher we haven't faced.

The A's are really struggling at the plate lately so the Sox starters just need to shut them down until the Sox get some runs on the board and then let the bullpen do their thang....

Gavin stayed confident even tho Alexei let him down in the 1st. Nice to see.
Pods is scratching and clawing out these walks and runs scored..excellent.
AJ and Big Jim are smoking hot right now which makes us tough vs the rightys.
Now, can Bart keep it going? I think he likes pitching vs those west coast teams like the Angels and A's.

Long lasting? Remember what we did to Gio Gonzalez last year?

I was at that game in Oakland last summer. The White Sox were so zoned in against Gonzalez that they didn't even hit a ball foul until the third inning. And Gonzalez was coming off a great debut outing against the Jays.

Cahill has been a pretty good pitcher this year. Twice he has lost tough games to Bedard. Tonight, he got a lot of help from his defense, as did Floyd.

Oddly enough, though, the game ultimately hung on two bad defensive plays. The play that Ramirez should have made in the first cost the Sox a run when it was followed by a single and a home run. With Cahill out of the game, the popped bunt by Ramirez should have been left to drop for a doubleplay before the next two hitters singled and homered.

But, of course, with all the former White Sox players and farmhands wearing A's uniforms tonight, it shouldn't go unnoticed that Oakland's offense is what White Sox fans often complain their offense is -- all or nothing with reliance n the home run. It was worse when Swisher and Cust were in the same lineup, though.

The game revolves around pitching and defense, though, and after the first, the White Sox had that tonight. When you give your bullpen a lead of three runs or more in the ninth inning, there is nothing wrong with your offense, no matter how you score your runs.

Mohoney

It was pretty cold out there, and both starters looked very good. It looked like they each needed a little extra time to get loose, which explained the wildness both guys had in the first inning. I was kind of worried that Holliday's play on Paulie was going to turn out to be the difference in a really good pitcher's duel, but then the mistake to AJ and the big strikeout of Cabrera made me feel really good about our chances to rough up Oakland's bullpen.

Nice game tonight. Scotty is creating havoc. There's some decisions to be made when TCQ gets back. No way Scotty is going down if he keeps it up. But I did mention at the time that if AJ could get one up in the air to right, it'd be gone. :D:

While it's true that Scottie's presence on the base pads is really helping us out, I think it's time he remember some fundamentals. He's making a TON of just fundamental mistakes, running at the wrong times, not running back at the right times.

One of his mistakes got a pass today when the pitcher decided to throw a rainbow toss to first base instead of an actual throw on Alexei's pathetic bunt pop up. But in the playoffs, or even against teams like the Tigers next week, he probably won't get that pass.

I hope that someone's able to brush him up on those fundamentals of baserunning soon. Otherwise he could be more harmful than helpful soon.

As far as the decision on who to send down goes, i'm pretty sure one of the relievers will be sent down. I could be wrong though. But there's a lengthy thread about this that occurred earlier this week.

Yeah, he's lost a couple steps and has made some mistakes, but he's sparking the offense and getting us on the board in the 1st inning again. It'll be interesting to see if we keep 5 OFers or send someone down. Wise is out of options.

Yep, this team really has taken off since Scotty's been here. I never thought he'd be able to look THIS good. What a pleasant surprise.

As for PK's pop-up, I'll blame that one on Hawk for not quite getting over the fence. Hawk needed to will it over more with one extra "STRETCH!!! GET ON BACK THERE!!!" It would've made the full difference. :D:

Fun game to be at tonight.

Absolutely one of the better Sox games I have been to since I started going. I go to maybe 3 a year if I am lucky, and feel like a child mesmerized by something everytime I see the ball park. The game was amazing, and the massive wave that went around for 7 or 8 rounds was absolutely bonkers.

Saw a few A's fans too- have no idea where they came from, but they were alright with me.

Loved the game, and hope the winning ways continue.

Come on White Sox, 2009 can be your year!!

Was a great game to watch. Gavin looked good overall; no decisions frustrate me only because I feel bad for the pitcher if he keeps his team in it.

That said, I liked the patience at the plate from the Sox....and Thome's opposite fielder never hurts. :D:

Freaking amazing! The SOX Mojo is a risin! I can't believe the complete turn around since that horrible series in Toronto. I was hoping we would just stay out of last place at that time. Now, we're at .500 with only the Tiggers in front of us. Keep it up boys!

BTW - Scotty Pods and Alexi are doing wonders at the top of the order. Exciting and fun to watch!

Great game. Was in section 111; there was a douchebag Cub fan cheering for the As the whole game.

We didn't know there were any of these

After Konerko, Thome and Nix all flying out to the warning track, I wasn't so sure about the shot in the 8th, but thank God it was gone!

I thought it was brilliant that the huge thunderstorm we were supposed to have didn't even happen, except some sprinkling right after we made the second out of the ninth.

Going back on Wednesday!:bandance:

Yeah, the weather worked out great. A little chilly, but no rain! We had some Scrubs fans up by us in 535 too. Late in the game, a foul came up our way, and they were yelling at the guy to throw it back. He gave it to a little kid. We also had the drunk morons yelling STEROIDS every time Giambi came up. I felt like yelling BEER! at them.

Thome's homer got a double yes from the Hawk.

Right Size, Right Shape, you can put it on the board . . . YES!!!
